Story & Lesson Highlights with Megan Shankel

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Megan Shankel . Check out our conversation below.

Megan , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
That everyone has a story, good or bad. I’m no one to judge I sit and listen with open arms and ears. I believe my work space is a share space as well. I love they feel open to sharing their life with me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Megan I’m 28 years old licensed Cosmetologist. Owner of ms.nailzz LLC , I offer nail care to variety of clientele in the Tri cities area. Being self employed has a lots of benefits but also requires one to work 24/7. On top of that I’m a mother of soon to be again. So juggling a business and growing a baby is one of my greatest strengths so far.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I would say the earliest moments of me feeling powerful is becoming a first time mother. Something just changes in you when you create just magic.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me that there is beauty in the struggle. I had I not gone thru such fires I would have mot been able to bloom from ashes. Sometimes you have to struggle alone to see the big picture. Every wonderful book as a story lines

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That you have to be famous to be seen. That instant gratification is all you need. To me dedication and time is what makes someone be seen by the outside world. Putting yourself in bigger shoes allows you to open doors you never thought possible

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Definitely my personality. I think I bring just a different vibe to rooms because I am so out spoken. I speak up when everyone stay silent. I also think they will miss my work and creativity .
