Story & Lesson Highlights with LynnQuinEtta James-Boyd of Grosse Pointe

We recently had the chance to connect with LynnQuinEtta James-Boyd and have shared our conversation below.

LynnQuinEtta , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Who are you learning from right now?
I am learning from my family. My husband is teaching me resilience and my daughter is teaching me growth.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a brand in itself. I work as a host and entertainer. I consult on how to enter the entertainment industry when it comes to marketing business: Love Always LLC. Right now I am working on a documentary about unclean water here in the USA. This will be my second documentary to date. My first one was about my ex, who is a comedian.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My father, Oscar James, Sr. He saw greatness in me when I didn’t see it as a a young child. He recently passed away but I still feel him with me everyday.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Stay focused. You can party later on in life!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That everyone is beautiful and perfect and kind. The entertainment world is everything but that. Sometimes the most beautiful ppl are mean. Sometimes the most perfect situation can be hard to get. Sometimes there is no work unless you make it yourself.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What pain do you resist facing directly?
The pain of my father’s death. I still don’t want to accept I can’t hold or hug him anymore in this life. I pray everyday that one day I will be able to. I believe I will be able to in heaven and in my dreams.
