We recently had the chance to connect with Jennifer Wilson and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Jennifer, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
The team mentality we’ve built behind the scenes at Celestial Farms wedding venue is what I’m most proud of. We’ve created a team of passionate professionals that genuinely care- about each other, about our couples, about the wedding experience, and about doing things the right way (not the easy way) every single time- even when no one is watching. Everyone on our team steps in without being asked to protect the overall wedding experience of our couples- which is our first priority. We treat every detail of every moment on wedding day like it matters-because it does. We anticipate potential challenges before they arise and we handle them seamlessly behind the scenes. This wouldn’t be possible without teamwork. The heart and soul of Celestial Farms is our team.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jennifer Wilson, owner of Celestial Farms, a modern farmhouse Michigan barn wedding venue located on a private 20-acre farm at 3116 E. Vienna Rd. Clio, Michigan 48420 -about an hour north of Detroit. While I am the owner, I’m also a planner and coordinator and an active part of the team on every wedding day. What truly sets us apart is that timeline planning and coordinating services are included with every wedding, because we genuinely care about creating a seamless, memorable and fun wedding experience for our couples and their guests.
Celestial Farms began as a family horse farm many years ago and transforming it into a wedding venue in 2022 became a way to honor the legacy left behind by our parents. After our last horse passed 5 years ago, I followed a vision to reimagine the horse barn into a modern Michigan barn wedding venue rooted in thoughtful design and heartfelt hospitality.
My brand is centered on delivering a top-notch wedding experience, built on strong relationships, personalized wedding planning, and of course- a dedicated team. I’m passionate about all things wedding—from planning logistics to documenting love stories—which led me into blogging. And my new found passion- a podcast on YouTube called “Unveiled with Jennifer Wilson | brought to you by Celestial Farms.” is currently in the process of leveling up with a new studio in design. We’re also beyond excited to introduce more content creation options, cinematic videography, and incredible drone footage for the upcoming 2026 and 2027 wedding seasons- led by my incredibly talented daughter, content creator, social media manager and the owner of “Kylee Wilson Media.”
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
From the very beginning, it was my clients who saw me clearly before I could see myself. They recognized my passion for weddings, my attention to detail, and the way I genuinely care about creating an unforgettable wedding experience for each and every couple. Their heartfelt feedback and trust made me realize I had discovered my passion and purpose. It gave me the confidence to push forward with my innovative concepts. It allowed me to expand Celestial Farms, personalize our services, and even explore new ventures like blogging and podcasting. From day one, my clients’ belief in me has made building a successful Michigan wedding venue possible.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could tell my younger self one thing, it would be not to worry-you’ll find your passion. Focus on the journey, live in the moment, and most importantly-don’t stress the small stuff. Everything you experience throughout your life, the good and the bad, will eventually lead you to the life and career you’re meant to have. When the timing is right, your passion and purpose will be revealed. All the waiting and learning, and all of the wins and losses will give you the tools needed to be successful in the career you were made for. I’d tell my younger self to be patient, enjoy each moment of your life, and keep the faith. You’ll find your calling.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
Much of what I know today about running a successful wedding venue comes from my mentor, Didi Russell, and the incredible community of locally owned wedding venues who have guided, taught, and supported me from day one. I dove head first into this industry, knowing very little about what it takes to run a successful, well rounded wedding venue. I knew I could throw a great party- there’s no doubt about that. What I didn’t know was that a huge part of my success would come from SEO strategies, social media, and trusting the process of building my brand organically without relying on corporate marketing wedding firms. Instead, I’ve relied heavily on the guidance and advice from Didi and the community of locally owned wedding venues for marketing strategies, venue policies, and wisdom. Having access to other wedding professionals that have shared similar experiences made a huge impact on my overall success from the very beginning. I entered this industry with hopes, dreams, and a passion for love stories. The insight, advice and support I received from Didi has helped me grow into the successful Michigan wedding venue owner I am today. I have so much more to learn, but I’ve managed to stay miles ahead of other Detroit area wedding venues who have been in the industry longer. Celestial Farms just ended season three. And when you Google “wedding venues near me” or “Michigan wedding venues”, you’ll find us at the top! I’m forever grateful for Didi and her guidance, insights and concepts which have helped make Celestial Farms thrive.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What sets me apart in this industry? Mastering the flow of a successful wedding day—my unseen advantage. I know when to step in, when to step back, and what a crowd truly wants. I excel at curating the perfect timeline, ensuring every moment of my couples’ wedding day is intentional and memorable. I have a unique talent for reading my brides and grooms, understanding which aspects of their day matter most to them. That insight allows me to shape their experience, creating a personalized and seamless day that feels effortlessly “just right.” It’s a combination of empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of what makes a wedding truly magical. These skills allow me to craft unforgettable experiences for every couple who says “I do” at Celestial Farms.
