We recently had the chance to connect with Denitra Townsend Gregory and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Denitra, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes! I’ve never been one to hop on trends that weren’t genuinely me (in style, career, education, etc.). So while the world is constantly moving, and FAST, I always choose to walk at a steady pace. Being intentional and purposeful has always been more important than being the first to arrive. So what if I move slower. I’ll still get there!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a God-fearing wife, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and friend. I am an Image Consultant whose work speaks for itself. Whether that’s creating capsule wardrobes for my clients, personal shopping, curating selections via wardrobe subscription programs , or educating them on the importance of optimizing color psychology and dopamine dressing, I offer practical systems that create both ease and renewed purpose. One thing that is unique about the services that I offer is that being a “retired” social worker, I am able to beautifully weave behavioral awareness with self-esteem building practices into the work that I do in a subtle, yet fruitful way.
Due to my need to have multiple creative outlets, I continue to work in the theater and film space (hair and makeup) and moving towards being part of a team that develops characters (of course, image/style-wise for me) within film and media.
Also, my husband and I are building a coffee and lifestyle brand (Twelve 12 Coffee Co, launching December 12, 2025). This brand’s focus is on love, life and slow-living. So, yes, we will have great coffee beans, but additionally, coffee accessories and lifestyle products. Our goal is to partner with the community and other conscious-living brands.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
An earlier memory of feeling powerful is when I was in grade school at my grandparents house with my cousins. We’d come home from school to “play” school and I was always the teacher. LOL. These moments helped shape my confidence and informed the amount of influence and leadership abilities that I was capable of, even at a young age.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It only takes one person to believe in you: YOU.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
You can learn a lot from ANYONE! Also, never underestimate the power of common sense.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think they will miss me fussing about how they don’t NEED to purchase anything n
to create a new outfit!
