Rising Stars: Meet Yanna Gibbs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yanna Gibbs.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always loved having a camera in my hand since I can remember. Throughout junior high, I started taking photography classes and learning the basics and by high school, I was in journalism in yearbook and was one of the main photographers for both. Life gets crazy! I ended up putting the camera down for some years going to college and having my two little ones. My biggest blessings! When 2020 hit with the quarantine I decided that I wanted to pick up a camera again. Did not matter what it was if I was in the house so I started making youtube videos and once the ban was lifted, I immediately started shooting again! Anything and everything. Last year I LLC Avocado Mom Photography and today I am fully living my dream again shooting! It has definitely been an amazing journey so far and I am so grateful

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The past two years have been crazy and definitely beautiful there’s been some ups and downs. I’ve had doubts about myself but nothing can stop what I have going. I love all my clients and everyone who reaches out to me and wants work done by me it definitely pushes me every single day

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I would say I am most known for how creative I am I love to take inspiration from anyone and anything and bring it to life. I think what sets me apart from others is I am not afraid to step outside of the box and learn something that I have no idea about. And try to re-create that in a photograph

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned along this journey is to humble yourself. I’ve learned that there’s always something to learn and I will always be learning with photography and that is the most beautiful thing about this career.
