Hi Teosha , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Teosha Robinson , licensed esthetician and business owner of Brown Girl Royalty Cosmetics . My business provides skincare essentials , cosmetics , and services such as beauty enhancement , body waxing , and skincare . I began my journey of entrepreneurship in July 2020. I have always been into beauty , skincare , and just making myself and others feel confident even as a kid . My goal was to be able to cater to all women/men of all skin types and ethnicities , so all skincare products & cosmetics I offer are natural/vegan based . During my first year of business I realized I was also really good and passionate as a potential makeup artist and figured “ why not include services into business along with the products I sale on my website ? “ . I then went to creative hair school in 2021 to obtain my esthetician licenses in the state of Michigan . I began to provide services right in the basement of my house from 2021-2022 , to build my clientele before moving to a salon suite for the following 2 years .I truly love what I do , to the point it doesn’t even feel like work . Seeing women/men smile once they leave my chair , is even better than the financial gain that my business has taken me over these years . Being focused and hard working as an esthetician has given me so many opportunities I could have never imagined . I have now worked with dance teams , completed numerous weddings , and even have traveled in different states and out the country to provide makeup services for photoshoots . I now provide services at Mellow body spa located in Flint township . With the support of my husband , family , friends, and of course loyal clientele/product consumers I have been able to be a full time entrepreneur for the past 3 1/2 years . This journey has had its ups and downs but I am forever grateful to God for continuously growing my business and keeping me going .

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some struggles I have endured on the way has been retaining clients . Sometimes clientele can be based on what’s going on at the time . For example Covid had a big effect on my clientele due to not being able to provide services when we all experienced “ The shut down “ . Also the economy experiencing an inflation took a tole on my clientele at one point as well . However as an entrepreneur you have to be creative and figure out different ways to make revenue continue to flow . When I experienced these things , I begin taping into creating makeup content , online makeup classes , live makeup shows on social media , creating different products to sale , coming up with affordable deals etc to make up for services being slow and pick back up .

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Im a makeup artist , I also do body waxes , and skincare services ( facials ) . I’m most known for being a makeup artist . I am most proud of my beauty enhancement work . I absolutely love to see women feel good about themselves soon as I give them the mirror before leaving . As women we are suppose to feel confident and beautiful , and being able to do this effortlessly for others makes me more than happy . I like to do what my clients ask of me when it comes to makeup , If you’re more of a “ natural beauty “ type of girl ? I can give you that exact look by lightly enhancing . If you want to look like a superstar? , I can do that too . That’s what makes me different from other makeup artist. I give my clients exactly what they ask for . Im very versatile and can do it all .

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Being a full time entrepreneur , you HAVE to be a risk taker because results aren’t always guaranteed . Some days may be better than others as far as clients and sales , but you have to believe and keep going no matter what it looks like . As long as you keep being consistent, providing quality work and quality products , and being open to learning to grow ? Trust me you can and will began to see the fruits of your labor .
