Rising Stars: Meet Tatiyanna Edwards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiyanna Edwards. 

Hi Tatiyanna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started in 2018 which was my freshman year of college! I was trying to balance my school life with my work life on top of having a social life. I came across a vendor and automatically reached out at the time I wasn’t thinking business-wise but a friend suggested to me “why don’t you sale it, you love wearing it!”. From that moment on I was sitting in my dorm brainstorming and putting together a business plan. I honestly did not think it would take off as good as it did. I was shocked, excited, & beyond pleased with how everything went for it to be my first time ever doing anything like this! With me not really knowing the ropes as much & all that I needed I sat down & redid everything to become the brand I have today! 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say it has been a smooth road but I wouldn’t say rocky either. It gets hard at times because I am doing everything alone. I was first out of friends and family to ever start a business on my own from scratch! Didn’t really know anybody to go to for help other than just sitting down talking to my mom & we researched together. Also, I was and still am my own funding. I applied for grants constantly & was never picked so I was supplying with at the time my Victoria Secret paychecks! It was hard but it never stopped me. Now on to the positive side the amount of support I received I really can’t put into words! My customers definitely made it all worth it & they are honestly the main reason I am still going, can’t thank them enough! 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Besides from my hair company I am also a lash tech. I wanted to add more to my business so I decided to become a lash artist to make custom lash strips to sell with the hair. I ended really falling in love with my craft and I now do both! Outside of being an entrepreneur I am a cheer coach and was recently promoted to being a manager at my job! Yes, I still work a 9-5 to simply keep going until my businesses get to where I really want them. I’m not just there yet but I will be soon. Mark my words! 

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Honestly happiness. I write in my journal every day to “be happy because happiness brings peace and peace brings joy”. This goes for my business & my personal life. I feel long as all my customers/clients are happy & satisfied with what I provided then that is success. Happiness really is the key to life. If you stay happy & positive nothing can steal your joy & bring you down. Longs as my customers & myself are happy then my business is successful in my eyes & that’s all that matters.
