Rising Stars: Meet Talour Maher

Today we’d like to introduce you to Talour Maher. 

Hi Talour, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I attended college for three years and was still unsure with what I wanted to pursue in the future. After a lot of thinking of who I am as a person and what my passions are I decided to enroll in beauty school (Bellus Academy). I completed 1000 hours in the esthetician program eager to get into the workforce. After graduating I moved to Lansing, Michigan passing my boards and getting hired right away. My career so far as a whole has been a dream come true, but my true passion lies in doing lash extensions. I love getting to see the instant transformation in my clients from not only their lashes but also the confidence a new set of lashes brings. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since graduating I was so excited to start working and build my clientele. However, since moving to a new location and not knowing anyone I did struggle. I didn’t really struggle finding a job, but it was hard getting clientele and that kind of made me start doubting myself. Now looking back on it I realized I was trying to rush a process that takes time, especially in the beauty industry. I never lowered my head with my work because I know at the end of the day, I’m learning each day. Now I can say that I am very pleased with where I am at in my career, I have built an amazing clientele and work at one of the top spas in Lansing. It’s only a beginning to so much more for me. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work at Skin Studio 211 in the East Lansing location as an esthetician. I offer facials, all-body waxing, teeth whitening, tinting, and lash extensions. I specialize in lash extensions and that is what I’m known for in the spa! I’m proud of getting to see my clients grow their self-confidence every visit knowing they are leaving feeling beautiful. Skin Studio 211 focuses on the clients individually so well from offering discounts every week to personalizing your appointment to fit your concerns/goals. 

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Lash extensions just recently have became a big trend and they are only getting bigger. With that being said bottom lash extensions are starting to trend, so I do want to further my knowledge and learn how to do them as well. I also see microblading eyebrows becoming a big trend in the next few years. I definitely have getting my microblading license on my goals for this year!
