Rising Stars: Meet Steven Krause

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Krause.

Steven, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started writing around the age of 11. Little songs here and there, recording at friends’ houses, but nothing serious. By the time I had reached 17, I knew that I was ready to be a musician and only that. Now I’m 24 and haven’t slowed down. My vision has remained the same.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not. I wouldn’t say that I’ve struggled more than anyone else because I believe it’s relative, but I’ve had my battles. Rapping out of a small, country town, is one that I still struggle with today. It’s very hard to get people to believe in you when not everyone is aware that there is a much bigger world than that area. I’ve also had a lot of race-driven problems within events throughout the industry. It took a lot of time for people to start looking past the color of my skin and accepting the fact that I just loved rapping.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Hip-hop Artist/Rapper. Mainly focusing on upbeat, confident driven music. I’m known for having a very energetic stage presence, as well as a perfectionist type of work ethic. (Nothing is ever perfect) I take a lot of pride in being who I am, and only that. Never changing, remaining true to not only myself but those who I surround myself with. I’m proud to be so in touch with my natural self, and not wanting to be, or act, like anybody else. The way I dress, talk, ride the beat, it’s all different.

What makes you happy?
Music, family, and my friends. In a sum, that’s it. I don’t need anything in life besides those 3 things.
