Rising Stars: Meet Shyanne Queen

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Shyanne Queen.

Shyanne Queen

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve had quite a journey in the real estate industry, shaped largely by my family background.

Growing up, my dad, uncle, and grandpa were all deeply involved in real estate – from building to investing. Their influence sparked my passion for the field. Despite initially studying psychology in college, I took on a part-time role as a showing assistant, which eventually led me to pursue real estate full-time after completing my master’s degree.

Since becoming a licensed realtor in 2019, I’ve been serving clients across West Michigan and beyond. As I prepare to obtain my broker’s license, I’m excited to take the next step in my career by establishing my own branch office and leading a team of residential realtors. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m eager to see where it takes me next.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely been far from a smooth road. Balancing the demands of being a single mom, completing college, and transitioning into a full-time career in real estate has been my biggest struggle. Each aspect requires significant time and energy, and finding the right balance has been challenging.

Moreover, navigating the ever-changing landscape of the real estate market, especially amidst the uncertainties brought by COVID-19 and economic fluctuations, has been another hurdle. Adapting to new strategies while staying afloat in a competitive market has demanded constant vigilance and flexibility.

The recent NAR settlement added another layer of complexity, requiring me to stay informed and compliant with evolving regulations while still serving my clients effectively.

But, as they say, with great risk comes great reward. While the journey has been filled with its share of uncertainties, I’ve also experienced moments of immense growth and success. It’s a testament to the resilience and determination required in the real estate industry.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a licensed realtor in Michigan, I am dedicated to providing exceptional service to clients across all areas of Grand Rapids and throughout West Michigan, spanning from the lakeshore to Lansing and from northern Kalamazoo to Sand Lake. My specialization lies in working with first-time homebuyers and negotiations.

What truly sets me apart is my commitment to diversity and fair housing. Diversity holds personal significance for me, as I am Native American. I passionately believe everyone deserves equal access to housing opportunities, and I strive to uphold these principles in every transaction. Being a safe place for diversity and advocating for fair housing is not just a professional stance for me—it’s a personal conviction.

In addition to my dedication to serving clients, I also have a background in real estate education. I spend a significant amount of time mentoring and coaching other realtors in the industry, sharing my knowledge and expertise to help them succeed. One of my proudest achievements is being able to empower and support fellow real estate professionals as they navigate their own careers.

What sets me apart from others in the industry is not just my expertise in negotiations or my focus on first-time buyers but also my commitment to continuous learning and giving back to the real estate community through mentorship and education.

What does success mean to you?
Success, to me, is about achieving a sense of fulfillment and contentment in both personal and professional aspects of life. It’s not just about reaching specific goals or milestones but also about feeling satisfied with the journey and the impact made along the way.

Success is balancing pursuing one’s passions and maintaining meaningful connections with others. It’s about continuously learning, growing, and evolving as an individual while also contributing positively to the world around us.

Ultimately, success is subjective and can vary greatly from person to person, but it often involves a sense of purpose, happiness, and making a difference in the lives of others.
