Rising Stars: Meet Sara Boyd of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Boyd.

Hi Sara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My spiritual journey began at the age of 17.

My mother once told me that when a streetlight flickers out as you pass beneath it, it’s a loved one saying hello. For me, that meant my grandmother—still present, still watching. I carried that belief with me.

In my late teens, I discovered Tarot. I was immediately drawn to the messages and guidance it offered, both for myself and for my friends. But as life unfolded, that practice was set aside. Marriage and motherhood took priority, and my connection to Tarot—and to spirit—quietly faded into the background.

Twenty years later, I found myself in a deeply unhappy marriage. I felt trapped financially, with no clear way out. During that time, I spoke to my grandmother every day. She became my guide, my source of comfort, and my connection to something beyond my circumstances. I pleaded for a way forward.

Then, everything changed.

My home burned down.

In the moment, it felt like devastation. But in hindsight, I understand it differently. It was my Tower moment—a complete clearing, orchestrated by my guides and spirit team, to free me from what was holding me back so I could rebuild my life on my own terms.

And that is exactly what I did.

Without my husband, I rebuilt from the ground up. I discovered my strength, found my voice, and developed a deep sense of safety and independence. As I did, my connection to spirit grew stronger than ever before.

That path led me back to Tarot.

This time, I understood something I hadn’t fully grasped before: Tarot is not driven by me, but by spirit moving through me.

I began offering readings out of my home in a small, conservative town south of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Reactions were mixed. To some, I was misunderstood. To others, I became a trusted source of insight and guidance.

As I expanded my work and began attending events, my connection deepened further.

A pivotal moment came at the Wild Zen Yoga Fest in Trufant, Michigan. I had taken a break from offering readings and attended a sound bath led by Kara Markovich of Sound Therapy. During the session, with my eyes closed and my mind in a theta state, something shifted.

The veil lifted.

I began seeing flashes—faces of those who had passed, connected to people in the room. It was clear, immediate, and undeniable. From that moment on, I was able to connect spirits with their loved ones still here.

At first, the experience was overwhelming. But I was guided to the right support. I found an incredible mentor, Rosemary, who helped me learn how to regulate and navigate my connection with spirit.

In 2022, I moved to Saginaw, Michigan, to be with my mother during the final years of her life. Since her passing, she has become one of my primary guides, continuing to assist me in connecting with other spirits.

This work is not simply something I do—it is who I am

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The path has not been smooth. It has been uneven, at times deeply challenging.

One of the greatest fears I had to face was the belief that people would think I had lost my mind. And some did. There were those—some who still do—who reached out with concern for my soul. Over time, I learned to receive that concern with grace, appreciate it for what it is, and then let it pass without taking it on as my own.

I have come to believe that we are all intuitive—each of us carrying a deep, inherent connection to spirit. Whether one calls it the Holy Spirit, Buddha, Allah, or something else entirely, I believe we are all guided and connected to a higher power.

Part of my journey has also been reconciling this path with my religious upbringing and navigating how to exist openly in this new identity, especially within my family. The responses have been mixed, and I have made peace with that.

We are all walking our own paths. And I understand now that mine is not meant to fit everyone else’s narrative.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I offer divine empowerment through channeling spirit and using Tarot to guide my clients. What I am most proud of is witnessing true healing—especially when clients are able to hear from loved ones who have passed.

In those moments, I see their grief, sadness, and sometimes even guilt begin to soften. There is a shift—a release—that allows them to move forward with greater peace and understanding.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is the annual summer trip my family would take to Mackinac Island with my parents’ closest friends. Together, our two families created a tradition that became a highlight of every year.

As kids, we were given the freedom to roam the island on our bikes—exploring, adventuring, and causing mayhem along the way.
