Rising Stars: Meet Princess Hardy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Princess Hardy.

Princess, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my business about 8 months into the pandemic. I was already unemployed and did not have any intentions on finding a job or starting to work. I did not begin my business to generate income – though that is the overall goal. I began my business because I admired the idea of owning a brand and creating my own products and ideas that people would actually want to buy and wear. I am a creator.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road altogether has not been a smooth process, like us all, I’ve made many mistakes in regards to business decisions, financial decisions, product decisions and overall walking into a field confidently that I had no experience in. In the beginning, I had an idea to run Honey Duop as a company along with friends and when it was time to do the actual work, I think those friends realized that they did not have the space in their lives to help run a business. Since the beginning technically, I have been operating this business as the only owner/worker. I have had several people help out with my social media presence, however nothing consistent enough to become a part of the business. In the process, I have learned so much information about owning a brand and selling to specific customer bases. I can only be grateful that I am able to operate an entire LLC as a one person team, and help other individuals who aspire to be small business owners in the near or far future.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At this moment, I create cosmetics and accessories for my customers. My products are sold online, and occasionally at pop up shops. My brand is black owned, creative, and it is mostly known for its mink lashes and signature luxury durags. I am most proud of my individual journey as an entrepreneur and as a student. I have been taking a few online marketing classes at a university on the side to better engage my marketing skills. I also plan to expand my knowledge and expertise in other areas such as introduction to business consultations and management consultations.

What’s next?
Honey Duop has recently just completed its first rebrand since operating. We have a new website, a new logo, and a new look. As for now, we will be opening up our online store very soon. I do have some other changes planned for Honey Duop. However, they are only concrete within my thoughts and I am not ready to share them yet.

I loveeeee her eyelashes. Definetly adds a pop to any outfit. They don’t irritate my eyes like other lashes because hers seem to be more natural. Not too mention her silk bonnets I use faithfully to keep my hair from becoming dry.
