Rising Stars: Meet Myles Busby

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myles Busby.

Hi Myles, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
The evolution of where I am today versus 3-5 years prior is based on the component of vulnerability. “The only man who never makes mistakes is the man who never does anything” – Teddy Roosevelt. For many of us, complacency takes over our lives because we are afraid to take risk. Before someone can become courageous enough to take a risk, they must find enough vulnerability to be in position to become a risk taker. Because of this, I am thankful. I’m thankful that my anxiety, insecurities, fear, and self-doubt drove me to the point of becoming a man who does everything or does nothing at all. Moving forward, the internal work does not stop. It has become my personal obligation to help people who share similar struggles feel empowered enough to ultimately take the steps needed to overcome that anxiety, insecurity, fear, and self-doubt.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“Everything we want in life is on the other side of hard.” – Monty Williams. The road to this point has been incredibly difficult and at times confusing, yet the seed was planted long ago. Now as it sprouts, the struggles of maintaining the confidence to feel belonging try to creep in. It is because of the practice patience, persistence, and perseverance that when moments of doubt arise, stepping through these obstacles has become increasingly easier.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In 2019 I founded Soil, a brand and way of life that specializes in educational development, mental & health awareness, and physical education. Recently we’ve partnered with our local YMCA on a series of outdoor group exercises classes such as; yoga and mediation, HIIT, and Zumba.

This fall we hosted over 140 kids, grades kindergarten-12 for our Michiana Skills Camp, a two-day co-ed basketball. Kids received instruction from former professional and collegiate athletes and were provided the space and environment to grow and develop their basketball skills.

We are excited to connect with more businesses and organizations to put together other sporting activities and events for kids, as well as make an impact in the professional world with our Mental Health & Wellness Seminars.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Family and legacy matters the most. There is no better gift than the gift of family. Having the right family around you can make all the difference in someone becoming successful or becoming lost. Family is not limited to blood relatives, however, anyone that the heart connects to and receives genuine, pure love can be considered family. My goal is to create such an environment, not only for myself but for my children, that they continue the legacy of family and success for generations long after my physical presence.
