Rising Stars: Meet Maria Finch of Mt.Morris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Finch. 

Hi Maria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Golden Finch Tanning has a unique origin story. An origin story that is my life. 3 years ago, I started my journey with IVF. As a woman who suffers from PCOS, infertility has been a long battle for me. Anyone on a fertility journey similar to mine knows that you not only need faith and great doctors, there’s also hefty expenses. One day I was brainstorming, considering different options for me to earn extra income to aide in my IVF journey. Result? I created Golden Finch Tanning. 

As a first-time small business owner, I jumped in with no experience. With the support of my loving husband, family, and friends, I’ve gained the strength and perseverance to build something special. 

Bridal and Boudoir tanning sessions are my expertise and I’ve recently incorporated High School Prom sessions. I love what I do it has become a huge passion not just a job and I feel a sense of enjoyment each time I help someone gain confidence and feel like their best selves. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggles I would say I’ve faced along the way are getting my name out there to continue building more clientele. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a professional spray tan Artist/ Business owner. I specialize in airbrush custom spray tans meaning I can do custom mixes with solutions to match the perfect color for each client, to give them that perfect yet natural glow. I’m most proud of how I built such a growing business from the ground up and seeing clients get a huge confidence boost after they get their tan. What sets me apart from others is that not only do I have an in-home studio, I have the luxury service of being a mobile spray tan artist giving 100% clients choice to come to the studio or the comfort of their own home for their custom airbrush tans. 

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice to those just starting out, do not ever give up on your dreams because there will always be rough patches throughout your journey but at the end, it’s all worth it. Keep going keep learning keep growing. I started from the ground up still learning as a first-time business owner. If I can, you can too! Don’t ever doubt yourself.
