Rising Stars: Meet Kyra Dalton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyra Dalton.

Hi Kyra, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My company was founded a few months after the pandemic began. I was in the house going through a lot of emotions because I couldn’t move around how I wanted to due to the world being shut down, I was also pregnant at the time. Being in the house that long made me realize a lot about myself! I’ve always been a creative person but holding many titles in my life took me away from that at times. I went to school for culinary arts and I’ve always loved fashion and shoes. During the pandemic, I started watching YouTube video and I came across this guy who really influenced me to get an embroidery machine. So, I purchased one and I also purchased a Cricut to practice vinyl. I put my equipment in my bedroom of my 2-bedroom apartment and I stayed up late practicing! The rest is now history! I am now operating out of a shop with multiple embroidery machines, printers, vinyl cutter, and heat press machines.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
All life requires obstacles and challenges. Those who don’t face obstacles become weak a stagnant is what I live by. At the beginning, I struggled and went back and forth on if I would return and get a regular job. I was putting so much into my business and I wasn’t seeing a return on my investments. But I had to realize that every business starts off small, it’s not going to happen overnight. It’s been a little over a year since I started my business and I am loving every minute of it. The pandemic was a blessing in disguise for me!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an entrepreneur who customize clothing and other items with embroidery, vinyl, sublimation, and screen print. I specialize in embroidery which I am known for. I am proud of my willpower, perseverance, and strong mindset, the fact that I do this all while raising my two children is something that still amazes me. My outlook on how others experience my products is something that definitely sets me apart. I love what I do, and most importantly I love how something made by me can influence and motivate others even more.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory were any time I got to spend with my loved ones, as long as I had my ‘Barney” shoes, might I add. I grew up in a very dysfunctional situation, and at that time 4 of my 7 siblings were separated from me due to my household issues. So having shoes with my favorite character were not only comforting in a situation I felt seem to consistently changes, but also what I thought at the time were fashionable which says a lot about what I choose to do as the entrepreneur I am today.
