Today we’d like to introduce you to Kougaran
Hi Kougaran, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We are a 4 piece Rock & Roll rooted band out of the Metro Detroit area of Michigan. We started around 2010 and we’ve been on quite the journey. We’ve played a number of major festivals in Michigan like Arts, Beats & Eats, Lapeer Days, Uncle Sam Jam and more. We’ve stuck to our original sound this whole time while implementing a modern twist. We’re trying to keep rock & roll alive.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been 100% smooth. We’ve gone through some line up changes and have been putting in pretty much all of the work to get to where we are without having to hire specific roles from the outside and pay money that we don’t really have. With the help of the team behind us, we’ve been keeping everything in house from photography to booking and music video and content creation. We have people who support what we’re doing and have faith in us. Sometimes it seems like our goal is so far out of reach but we still keep on pushing despite some road blocks every now and then.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As stated before, we are a 4 piece original rock & roll band. That itself is pretty self explanitory. We are known for our sound and being 100% authentic, even in the studio. Everything is recorded authentically by each member without having to plug in parts and only have maybe half of the band in the studio, despite that being a popular thing with other styles of music. And that is something that we are super proud of. The fact that we can all get together and plan a recording session and have everyone be in attendance to record their parts so we can continue to keep that authentic sound.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
There are a number of people who deserve a ton of credit. Our personal manager, Jay Puzio, who works tirelessly on the booking end trying to keep us busy and keep us relevant for as long as he has. He brings a lot to the table dating all the way back to his time working with Bitter Sweet Alley. Our friend, Daniel G. Allen (Gator Media) who has been a long time friend and supporter who also filmed our very first music video. Our assistant manager, Kirsty Lynn (Eclypse Media), who has been covering the photography, content creation, website, and even assisting Jay with some of the booking. The bookers, promoters and venues who still continue to support and book us to this day, Infused Productions being one of them. The friends and fans that have been following us from the very beginning, we wouldn’t be where we’re at without them as well as the newcomers over the last few years. The band members of course for writing the music and keeping positive energy despite some challenges. The recording studios that we’ve worked with, especially our friend Marc over in LA for being our all star producer and spending the time he has making the necessary tweaks to make sure our sound is at it’s best. There’s a long list, but these are the main faces.
