Rising Stars: Meet Keziah Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keziah Smith. 

Hi Keziah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey, I’m Keziah! I’m from Farmington Hills, Michigan, a city right outside of Detroit. I was raised in a small but endearing family, which includes my older sister, mom, and dad. I’m an actress and entrepreneur. I’ve been acting since the age of 5! I love the fact as an actress, I get the opportunity to create special and impactful moments for others watching. It’s a way to explore life and human emotion. I am a YouTuber; my first video was in 2017, and I’ve grown hella loving supporters! Which I’m very grateful for! 

I’m also the owner and founder of Believers Apparel. Believers Apparel is an exciting new brand that offers Christian streetwear! I always wanted to create a clothing line, to spark conversation. My most recent drop is called the Jeremiah collection: Created With A Purpose. Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite scriptures, so when I feel like giving up, I know that I’m here for a reason! If God is waking you up every day, he has a plan for you! 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I struggle with self-acceptance, sometimes about my present and my future. Social media portrays people’s lives as being perfect and having the best standards ever. Truth is everyone going through something. Which is why Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite scriptures because it reminds us we are here for a reason. When we feel alone, sad, or even happy, he’s there for us! “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I love acting. I like to think I’m a very empathetic person. I love opening up, and I like the challenge of trying to extend my empathy in playing characters whose feelings or motivations might be quite hard to understand. It’s also just kind of like escapism. It can be quite cathartic. In an emotional scene, I get to express my unexpressed emotions but as someone else. There is that moment when I might be doing quite an emotionally intense scene, where I almost become that character and, for just a moment, almost convince myself I am that person. It’s the best feeling in the world when I’m doing it; I love doing it! 

What do you think about luck?
I really don’t believe in luck; I believe in blessings! I’ve been very blessed in life and with my business. In the beginning, I didn’t get no sales for at least 3 months. As soon as I was about to give up, I got 4 sales the next day!
