Rising Stars: Meet Jupieverse of Grand Rapids

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jupieverse

Hi Jupieverse, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in the gaming world has been a great adventure. In 2017 I got my first job in the industry at a start up (Esports Arena). We produced esports tournaments and live streamed gaming events. It was hard and underpaid work but it was the most fun I’d ever had at at job. I fell in love with the world of gaming and became interested in streaming from there. I knew I wanted to be a streamer someday. The next stop in my journey took me into the world of game development. I worked at a small independent studio in Seattle (Hidden Path Entertainment) for a little over a year where I learned how games were created. My coworkers were incredible. From programmers to narrative designers, I was completely entranced listening in on meetings everyday. I was lucky enough to learn some QA while I was there. This experience gave me a huge appreciation for the art creating games and the people behind them. It wasn’t until a few years later in 2019 that I finally purchased my own PC. I hit ‘Start Streaming’ in December of 2019 and never looked back.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing worth having comes easy. I have faced many challenges along the way, even some that have made me want to give up at times. But I persevered. Most of my struggles have been self-inflicted such as imposter syndrome and not believing in myself. I had to become my own biggest fan. I have to continually refine and work on myself. It is a never ending process. No matter what adversity you face, you cannot give up on yourself if you want to achieve your dreams.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a queer Latina actress, content creator and storyteller. As a Twitch Partner, I live stream video games, theatre, tarot, chatting and more. I’m best known for my cozy, community-focused gaming streams where I play a lot of my favorite game – Palia (a cozy MMO). I’m very proud to be a part of my amazing community where we focus on being kind, inclusive and welcoming to all. I strive to bring the joy of gaming that I know and love to as many people as possible. Gaming, community, and amazing stories are what fuel me. I want to share that with the world.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Making pancakes with my Grammy on Sunday morning for breakfast. I can still smell the cinnamon and vanilla. Then we’d go outside and water her plants on the porch. She had so many – roses, cactus plants, succulents of all types. The simple moments were always my favorite with her.
