Rising Stars: Meet Jonathan Caceres of Grand Rapids

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Caceres.

Jonathan Caceres

Hi Jonathan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey with my camera all started in high school when one of my old friends wanted to record a music video sophomore year. I was already into photography at that point but never dipped in the video side before. After shooting our first video I fell in love with the artistic side of telling a story in a video format. The objective was more challenging to me then just editing photos. After shooting a few more videos on my mothers Canon t3i I wanted my own camera to shoot with, so I decided to ask my mom for a loan to buy my dream camera at that time, the Canon 5D Mark III. A $3,000 camera at the time my mom believed in me when I told her I would pay her back with this hobby at 16 years old. Believe me my mom did not play with her money so I ended up paying her back within 18 months. Rest in peace mom grateful for believing a crazy 16 year old teenager with a dream.
Throughout my first 7 years of my camera career I was really only specializing in just music videos and photo portraits. I was kind of one foot in and one foot out with working a full time job and having other variety ways of income I would lose focus on my main love, my career. After 2017 I completely stopped and took a 2 year break.

In 2019 I decided to pick up the camera again but this time I was ready to revamp everything, new company name, new logo, new camera. I wanted to stop boxing myself in, in just one niche. I wanted to expand my talents into other business ventures like Sports, Weddings, Businesses, Lifestyle films. That’s when I created “Tunnel Scope Studios” a media company that specializes in all aspects of media. In 2021 I quit my job that I was working at and went full time on working on my business.

Fast-forward 4 years later to 2025 I am still blessed to be doing this full time. With every year growing more and more. Building connections and meeting new people every day we can only expand from here! This year we were blessed to hire 3 more Photographers / Videographers to the team to keep up with the demand. As we also got our first paid out of state travel gig this year! I am so excited of what the future holds for Tunnel Scope Studios as we plan to be a staple in Michigan and the whole Midwest in due time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. With every career theirs ups and downs. In the beginning your not always going to having the most or the biggest cliental. Your not always going to be motivated every day to edit or to record. Theirs days you don’t want to post or respond to clients. So theirs definitely a lot of battles that go along the way but as long as you keep trying every day and working on your craft you will push forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So my name is Jonathan Caceres and I am the Founder & CEO of Tunnel Scope Studios. I am a hybrid shooter that can do both photo & video. As well as a video editor and a graphic designer. I would say I specialize in bringing my clients vision into life. Now what I’m known for I would say would be my Sports Films & Wedding / Quinceanera Films. What I am most proud of I would say the the quality of my work and the time that gets put into these films. What sets me apart from everyone I would say the relationships that I build with my clients. I feel honored when I have the privilege to document and record life achievements and memories for my clients that will last forever.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is seeing my clients bringing their family & friends together to watch their films that we put together for there event. Seeing the joy of everyone together and watching memories brings life to me.
