Rising Stars: Meet Johnny Jones of Cadillac

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Jones.

Johnny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Golden Gears, LLC last year in an effort to bring unique products to a niche group of firearms enthusiasts. My focus from day one has been to source every component of my products from only the United States; from the target steel, to the ink on my stickers, everything is made in the USA. Offering custom steel targets as well has allowed me to meet my customers specific needs and offer a wider range of products. Utilizing partnerships with local manufacturers ensures that all revenue generated by Golden Gears, LLC remains in our community. Through Golden Gears, LLC I’ve been able to sponsor events, work with with industry leaders, and contribute towards efforts to protect our 2nd Amendment rights.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has been pretty smooth! My customer base is devoted to buying American products and there is a high demand for products made entirely in the USA. While the market is saturated with cheap Chinese steel, my US steel targets sell out quickly and my other products stay moving. “If you build it, they will come.”

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
After several years in the culinary world, I moved into aerospace manufacturing while pursuing a degree in engineering. I spent time working for NASA and was on a career pathway with the agency when the COVID lockdowns started, and at that point I decided that I’d rather keep my talents closer to home and stay far away from government work. I have now been an engineer at Cadillac Fabrication for three years.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk taking is paramount to the human experience. If we’re not pushing into new and unknown territory, we slowly die. We have to be comfortable taking calculated risks.
