Today we’d like to introduce you to Joana Salazar.
Hi Joana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
With 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, I built my career around helping clients protect what matters most while developing strong relationships through customer service, communication, and trust. About 3 ½ years ago, I transitioned into the mortgage industry, where I found a passion for guiding families through one of the biggest milestones of their lives — homeownership.
Today, I continue to grow in the mortgage world while also pursuing my entrepreneurial side as the owner of a small press-on nail business. Balancing professionalism, creativity, and client-focused service has allowed me to build a career that reflects both my dedication and passion for helping others.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles has been finding people who share the same level of work ethic and dedication that we do. We truly go above and beyond for our clients and take pride in providing the best experience possible. Finding individuals and partners who align with those same values, communication standards, and commitment to client care has been one of the most challenging parts of the journey. However, those challenges have also helped us grow, become more selective, and continue building a business centered around integrity and exceptional service
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work in the mortgage industry, where I help guide clients through the home financing process and make what can often feel overwhelming a smoother and more positive experience. I specialize in client communication, loan coordination, and making sure every detail is handled efficiently from start to finish. Prior to mortgages, I spent 10 years in the insurance industry, which gave me a strong foundation in customer service, relationship building, and truly understanding clients’ needs.
What I am most proud of is the reputation I’ve built for genuinely caring about people and always going above and beyond for my clients. I never want anyone to feel like just another file or transaction. I take pride in being responsive, dependable, and someone clients and business partners can trust throughout the process.
What sets me apart is my work ethic, attention to detail, and the level of care I put into every client interaction. I believe communication and consistency make all the difference, and I strive to create an experience that makes people feel supported, informed, and valued every step of the way. Alongside my mortgage career, I also own a small press-on nail business, which reflects my entrepreneurial mindset, creativity, and passion for building meaningful connections both professionally and personally.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe both good luck and hard work have played important roles in my journey. One moment that really stands out is when I applied for my position in the mortgage industry without realizing it was someone whose insurance I had actually been handling for years. It felt like one of those moments where life unexpectedly connects the dots for you.
At the same time, I also believe opportunities only go so far without the work ethic to back them up. Throughout my career, I’ve always focused on building strong relationships, treating people well, and giving my best effort in everything I do. Looking back, I think those relationships and the reputation I built over the years helped open doors for me in ways I didn’t even realize at the time.
