Rising Stars: Meet Jevon Alexander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jevon Alexander.

Jevon Alexander

Hi Jevon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started off making music in the Rap/R&B genre. That has always been my sound since I started making music back in 2011. In the Spring of 2023, I did a Remix/Cover “If Morgan Wallen Was Black” to his original song “Last Night,” which blew up. It was just an idea; I was bored and wanted to try something different. That opened the doors to where I am now, a country artist. I will always have my roots in hip/hop, but I will find ways to blend that throughout my country’s music. I just released my first county single, “Tell Me How.” I’m super excited for this journey to continue, no matter where I end up.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Honestly, this has been the most ups and downs I’ve had in such a short period. Going viral can set a standard that you know shouldn’t exist, but you got accustomed to the numbers, which put me into a mental drought. I’m just now returning to my old self, where I’m having fun again, just making music.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to become more familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
When it comes to making music, the hook is where I thrive the most. I love coming up with melodies that make the catchiest hook possible. Of course, writing the verses and telling the story is key, but writing hooks is where I live.

What makes you happy?
It is knowing that my family supports me. They are my #1 fans. That hasn’t always been the case, and that’s why it means so much to me now. They want to see me win, and behind closed doors, they are constantly blasting and sharing my music. They’ll sometimes randomly send me old songs of mine that they still listen to years later. That keeps me going.
