Rising Stars: Meet Jessica Ramirez of East Lansing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Ramirez

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Honestly my oldest sister was a model and she always kept me in the latest clothes or designer brands like Perry Ellis no one else was wearing my age growing up as a kid. I’ve only been actually modeling for a year, but always had a love for fashion. When she passed I took her goals as my own and made it my job to fulfill her dreams as if they were my own. I was scouted out in New York just walking around by a senior booker for NYMMG. She said she loved my look and from there it’s been nothing, but amazing experiences.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The only challenges I’ve faced is actually understanding and learning the business aspect behind modeling. Staying away from scams and stuff that doesn’t really benefit your career or align with what you’re actually trying to do with your path.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve been an athlete since I could walk, so my whole life has been based around being the greatest soccer player or track athlete in the world. If you told me I would be a model instead of a pro track athlete I would laugh. I also have a passion for mental health. I’m like a therapist to everyone around me. It’s gotten to the point where strangers will see me out and will ask me to meet up with them so they can vent. I try to give the best advice I can and make sure to just listen. A lot of people that come up to me just want to be heard and understood. I love every moment of it though.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I’m really just in love with life right now. Getting fly with my friends and traveling the world with them is really what brings me the most joy at the moment. Live life, stay fly, and keep motion is the life motto we live by for peak happiness.
