Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Romano.
Hi Jenna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’m in the sewing business! I taught myself to sew when I was a teenager and really started to show interest around the age of 21. My first “real” project was a Jean/shirt quilt for my grandma. It was made out of my grandpa’s clothes; he passed away the year before. Ever since then, I have slowly worked my way into making different things. I have made memory pillows out of a loved one shirt, decorative pillows, rice packs, dish sponges, potato bags, and more!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s not always easy, especially when you are learning a new thing to make! Some of the difficulties were breaking a needle, having my thread all wadded up, even having the timing of my sewing machine be off, and having to take it in.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Registered Nurse care manager by day and a sewing junkie on the nights and weekends. I just enjoy making items and selling at craft shows or to people on Facebook!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
It’s a small town, and I feel like everyone knows everybody. My dislike would be not having a lot of stores close by.
