Rising Stars: Meet Jannah Garback of Detroit, MI

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jannah Garback

Hi Jannah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Jannah G started learning how to sing as the child of a music minister. Her talent for singing and musicality flourished in high school and in college in Michigan.

Jannah G has been officially performing for 15 years, and prides herself as a professional vocalist, composer, educator and advocate of arts. Jannah G is known for her electric and soul-filled voice. She also plays piano, ukulele, guitar and clarinet.

Jannah G is an emerging artist and singer-songwriter known for blending elements of R&B, Pop and soul in her music. Her sound often incorporates smooth melodies and emotive lyrics, reflecting themes of love, self-discovery, and personal growth. Jannah G has been gaining attention for her unique voice and authenticity of her music. While she may not yet be a household name, she has been building a following through platforms like Spotify, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. Her style and musical contributions are often compared to other contemporary R&B and soul artists like Joss Stone, Alicia Keys and Adele.

She is a director of contemporary worship at two churches in southeast Michigan; Our Shepherd Lutheran and King of Kings Lutheran Church.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In 2023, Jannah G participated in the Motown Museum’s “AMPLIFY: The Sound of Detroit” competition, which celebrates Detroit’s musical talent and honors the city’s rich Motown legacy. Out of numerous contestants, she secured a spot among the top 10 finalists. As part of the competition, Jannah underwent eight weeks of mentoring, coaching, and artist development to prepare for the grand finale performance. As a part of her training, she recieved vocal coaching from Curtiss Boone, a writer and producer from Motown who has trained the likes of Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, and Wendy Moten.

This training was rigorous and tested her vocal skill. At the grand finale, held at the Gem Theatre in Detroit and hosted by Doug E. Fresh, Jannah delivered a rendition of “Dancing in the Street,” showcasing her dynamic stage presence and vocal prowess.

Participating in this competition provided Jannah with valuable mentorship and exposure, furthering her growth as an artist within Detroit’s vibrant music scene.

Jannah G is best known for being a singer, songwriter, and music educator from Michigan, blending R&B, pop, and soul influences into her music. Her passion for music and electric and soulful vocals sets her apart from her musical peers. She has a unique energy and quality that can only be described as “JANNAH JUICE”. Similar to Beyonce’s SASHA FIERCE, Jannah G is spectacular on the stage and delights audiences across southeast Michigan.

Beyond the stage, Jannah G is a musical composer. She is the CEO of LADYJPRODUCTIONS, which houses all her musical creations and compositions. Jannah G also has a passion for dance fitness. She is a Zumba and STRONG NATION instructor as of Februaruy 2019.

In November 2024, she released an original song titled “It’s Christmas Baby,” which is available to stream on all platforms. She also released a music video for her original song with Michael’s Entertainment.

Her participation in Motown Museum’s artist development program and performances in Detroit’s music scene have helped solidify her reputation as an emerging artist with a soulful voice and dynamic stage presence.

Jannah G is recognized for her strong work ethic, which is evident through her diverse roles and accomplishments. She is a singer, songwriter, music educator, CEO of LADYJPRODUCTIONS, Zumba instructor, teacher, and worship leader. Balancing these responsibilities requires dedication, time management, and a commitment to excellence. Her active engagement in various facets of the music industry and community initiatives highlights her passion and relentless drive. Her achievements by age 30 and multifaceted career suggest a high level of professionalism and perseverance.

Her hard work and talent combined are the most incredible combination that has contributed to her success as a musician in Michigan.
