Rising Stars: Meet Isabell Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabell Hill. 

Hi Isabell, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve enjoyed making people feel beautiful. Around the age of five, my mom would bring home Avon catalogues regularly, and I would use her makeup to remake the looks that the models were wearing, with her. I would also paint her nails and go through the motions that I would watch the nail technicians do at the salon. Even if the results were messy, and granted they were, she would tell me how pretty it made her feel. It always brought me joy to hear. 

As I grew older and it came time to think about my future, I dipped my toes into different fields. I did a lot of research. But nothing felt as good as making others feel good about themselves. I graduated high school in 2020 and enrolled in cosmetology school that same year. I attended Protégé Academy in Mount Pleasant MI. I chose cosmetology so that I could receive a well-rounded education in all basics of beauty. Finding my niche was the last thing on my mind. Little did I know that would change. 

The school I attended offered optional lash courses to take while you’re still a student, and I was immediately drawn. I knew very little about lash extensions at the time, but if there’s anything I did know, is that good lashes can stand alone and look absolutely amazing. I took both a Classic Lash Extensions course and a Lash Lift course while in school. I graduated in fall of 2021, received my cosmetology license in January 2022, and started my business in March of 2022. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely wasn’t easy! Beginning my journey in the middle of a pandemic was definitely one of these struggles. However, it did give me time to reflect on my aspirations and think about what I really wanted to do. I always knew I wanted to work alone. What I found out later is how difficult and sometimes scary that can be. Being a bookkeeper, inventory keeper, web designer, money manager, messenger, and lash artist at once can be extremely challenging. As of now, I have a grasp on the tasks at hand, and I learn more every day.

Luxe Lashes by Izzy provides more than just a service, but an experience. I specialize in lash extensions, lash lifts, and lash tints. And I am always taking new classes and branching out to new additions to what I can offer. I provide a peaceful, mindful space for my clients to rest and recharge while I work my magic. I love the downtown area. Restaurants, boutiques, many places to explore. In the summer the streets and sidewalks are full of people.
