Rising Stars: Meet Hailey Markus of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Markus.

Hi Hailey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Part of Your Broadway World Podcast began with a simple idea: I wanted to create a space where my love of Broadway and Disney could come together, while also giving performers, creatives, and people behind the scenes an opportunity to share their stories.

What started as a passion project has grown into something I never could have imagined when I first began. Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to interview performers, actors, writers, directors, voice actors, and other incredible people connected to Broadway, Disney, and the entertainment world. Each conversation has taught me something new and has allowed me to connect with people I once only admired from afar.

Building the podcast has definitely come with challenges. There have been moments when I’ve questioned whether I was doing enough or whether the podcast would continue to grow, but I kept showing up, learning, reaching out to new guests, and finding ways to make the podcast better. That consistency has been one of the biggest parts of my journey.

Today, Part of Your Broadway World Podcast has become much more than just a podcast to me. It has developed into a community and a platform where people can celebrate Broadway, Disney, and the people who make those worlds so special. I’m incredibly proud of the guests I’ve been able to speak with, the relationships I’ve built, and the recognition the podcast has received along the way, including winning three Artie Awards.

Most importantly, I’m proud that something that began simply because I loved these worlds has grown into a platform that allows me to share that passion with other people. I’m excited to keep growing, meeting new people, telling more stories, and seeing where the podcast takes me next.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. When I first started the podcast, I was learning as I went. I had to figure out everything from reaching out to potential guests and preparing for interviews to recording, editing, creating content, promoting episodes, and learning the technical side of running a podcast. There was a lot of trial and error, and I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way.

One of the biggest challenges has been staying consistent and continuing to believe in the podcast during periods when growth felt slow. Social media can make it easy to compare yourself to other creators, and there have definitely been moments when I wondered whether what I was doing was reaching people or making the impact I hoped it would.

Getting guests has also been a learning experience. Reaching out to people you admire and waiting to hear back can be intimidating, especially if it takes weeks for a response. and rejection is naturally part of the process. I’ve had people decline, people who never responded, and plans that didn’t work out. I’ve learned not to take those moments personally and to keep reaching out.

There have also been plenty of technical and behind-the-scenes challenges. Not every recording has gone perfectly, and I’ve had to learn how to troubleshoot problems and adapt when something doesn’t go according to plan.

Looking back, though, I think those struggles have been just as important as the successes. They’ve taught me patience, persistence, flexibility, and the importance of continuing to show up even when things aren’t moving as quickly as I’d like. The podcast wouldn’t be where it is today if I had given up during those harder moments.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Artist / Creative

I consider myself a creative because Part of Your Broadway World Podcast is something I’ve built around storytelling, entertainment, and my love of Broadway and Disney.

A big part of my work is creating conversations that allow guests to share their experiences in their own words. That means researching guests, developing thoughtful interview questions, conducting the interviews, editing episodes, creating promotional content, managing social media, and constantly thinking of new ways to grow the podcast and connect with an audience.

What I enjoy most is the storytelling aspect. Every guest has a different journey, and I love being able to give people a space to talk about their careers, their experiences, the challenges they’ve faced, and the things they’re passionate about.

Over time, I’ve also learned that being a creative means wearing a lot of different hats. I’m not only the person asking the questions—I’m also involved in the production, branding, promotion, scheduling, outreach, and the many behind-the-scenes decisions that keep the podcast moving forward.

The podcast has given me a creative outlet that I’ve been able to continually grow and evolve. What started from a love of Broadway and Disney has become a platform where I can tell stories, connect with people in the entertainment industry, and hopefully inspire others to pursue the things they’re passionate about too.

Any big plans?
My biggest plan for the future is to continue growing Part of Your Broadway World Podcast while staying true to what made me want to start it in the first place.

I’d love to continue expanding the incredible range of guests I’m able to interview, from Broadway performers and creatives to Disney talent, filmmakers, voice actors, and other people whose stories connect with the worlds that inspired me to create the podcast. I’m also excited about continuing to build relationships within the entertainment community and creating opportunities for even more meaningful conversations.

I want to continue improving the podcast from both a creative and production standpoint as well. There are always new things to learn, whether that’s improving the quality of the interviews, creating stronger video and social media content, or finding new ways to reach people who may not have discovered the podcast yet.

I’m also hoping to grow the podcast’s presence at conventions and entertainment events. Being able to bring the podcast into those spaces and connect with fans and industry professionals in person is something I’m particularly excited about.

Ultimately, I don’t have a single finish line in mind. I want to keep saying yes to new opportunities, continue telling stories that people want to hear, and see how far I can take something that started simply because I loved Broadway and Disney. If the journey so far has taught me anything, it’s that you never really know where a passion project can lead you.
