Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma & Woody Jr. Thompson.

Emma & Woody Jr Thompson

Hi Emma & Woody Jr., we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Dad (Woody) purchased the old Tamarack Christian camp during Covid and played with the idea of turning it into a wedding venue. At the time I was still finishing up my senior year at Michigan State and working full-time for my aunt running a construction cleaning crew. Eventually, my dad came to me saying that this was something he really wanted to do and asked me if I wanted to be a part of it. I was so excited about the opportunity and confidence he had in me that I jumped at the opportunity! I finished up my schooling and gave my 6 months’ notice to my aunt. Ever since then, my dad and I have just been working together through the construction process and having trust in one another that things are meant to be. We couldn’t do it without one another and that’s what makes this whole process so fun and special to us both! We can’t wait to look back and see what we accomplished together.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We ran into some troubles with some things being delayed just due to how things are rolling in the economy lately. Mostly things that are out of our control just take patience.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My Dad has been a business owner for as long as I can remember. He has always taught me to work hard and always show up. I’ve never really specialized in one thing; the longest I was ever a part of business-wise was always construction. I think it mainly had to do with the fact that my family is in the construction business. Which makes it really cool that we are also able to do work ourselves there and put in some hours. I’m most proud of how far this whole process has come. The venue is more than we ever could have imagined, and it’s already so beautiful even though we aren’t done yet. I just know that it’s going to be a really special place that we get to have in our family for many years to come. I can’t wait to see all the memories made by so many.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I actually went to school for Kinesiology in hopes to become an ultrasound tech or even be in the fitness industry. My Dad (Woody Thompson Jr.) went to school for Poultry Science and is now an owner of a roofing company, Thompson Home Improvement LLC.
