Hi Emily, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My photography journey began when I was about 14 years old, and from the moment I picked up a camera, I knew I had found something that felt like home. What started as a quiet passion quickly became a constant in my life, a way to see the world differently and preserve the fleeting beauty of it. Over the years, I never let go of that spark. Through trial and error, self-teaching, and countless hours of practice, I’ve grown not just as a photographer, but as a storyteller. Every step of the way, photography has been more than a career path, it’s been my way of connecting with people, honoring their stories, and capturing the moments that matter most. It’s that love and dedication that brought me here today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting my photography career at a young age came with its own set of challenges. I had to quickly learn how to balance my creative passion with the realities of running a business, often without the benefit of industry experience or connections. One of the biggest struggles was getting my name out there and earning recognition in such a competitive field. Those early obstacles pushed me to work harder, to refine my craft, and to prove that I belonged in this industry. Through perseverance and a deep commitment to my work, I’ve turned those challenges into stepping stones, shaping not only my career but also the photographer I’ve become today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a wedding and lifestyle photographer, and what I do goes far beyond simply taking pictures. My focus is on capturing authentic moments, real emotions, and the unique stories behind each person or couple I work with. Whether it’s documenting the joy of a wedding day, the quiet bond between a family, or the love we share with our pets, I approach every session with intention and care. My goal is to create timeless images that not only preserve memories, but also allow people to feel the emotions of those moments for years to come.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Happiness for me comes from the people and moments that bring meaning to my life. My husband, my pets, and my family are at the heart of that, they’re my biggest source of love, laughter, and grounding. I also find so much joy in music and concerts, where I can completely lose myself in the energy of the moment, and in traveling, where new places and experiences fuel my sense of adventure and creativity. All of these things not only make me happy but also inspire the way I approach my work as a photographer, reminding me to seek out and celebrate joy in every form.
