Rising Stars: Meet Elyse Sholtis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elyse Sholtis.

Hi Elyse, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Elyse Sholtis of Rockford, MI, and recently, Former Miss Michigan for America Strong 2021! I work full-time at an Elderly Law and Estate Planning Firm, and part-time as a Care Giver, but in addition, I’m continuing to build my legacy by be kind, empathic, and compassionate through community service. A form of community service is that my mom and I crochet scarves and donate them to nursing homes.

My pageant and personal platform is volunteerism; setting the example of others, that you do not need a substantial amount of funds to make a difference in someone’s life. As Princess Diana said, “I want to be a Queen of People’s Hearts…” and encouraging that real queens and kings fix other queens and king’s crowns. A final comment, I’m an advocate for mental health; as I say often, you do NOT have to be “crazy” to talk to someone. Being in Talk Therapy has assisted me greatly and allows me to negative through good and bad moments at a comfortable pace and finding healthy balances. I highly encourage counseling and don’t be afraid to ask for help!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Were some paths smoothers than others? – absolutely! But most struggles are a difficult battle to overcome, but it’s learning how to combat each conflict one at a time. What I have learned through my life’s journey is simply knowing and understanding YOURSELF: paying attention to your mental, know your boundaries, taking healthy risks, document your adventures, engage and surrounds yourself with anyone and in anything that will support you and your project(s). But no matter the goal(s) – small or great, no matter the challenge(s) – small or great, you can turn any goal and/or challenge into an accomplishment and/or opportunity- it’s about perception and interpretation. We are all living and navigating through our own life, which includes different triumphs and obstacles along the way; yet we must remember and realize that we are not alone in this fight called life. You are not the only one with an undertaking, so again don’t forget that everyone has bad days; however, it’s important to ask for help, and putting in the effort and the reaction from start to finish.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m proud of my pageantry endeavors, especially my recent title as Miss Michigan for America Strong 2021, and my accomplishments during my 10-month reign. Preparing for nationals was a rush and pleased to announce that I placed in the Top 15 at the Miss for America Strong competition held in Las Vegas, NV. During my reign, I made over 50 public appearances and my commitment to community service. Showing that everyone deserves a chance; everyone deserves their crowning moment. Pageantry has taught me to lead with my heart and I hope to be the example for others to get involved with their community and give back. I have been told my dedication and kindness is powerful and being a strong supporter and role model toward strangers and peers. Again, wish for my legacy to mimic Princess Diana, “I want to be a queen of people’s hearts, in people’s hearts…” by leaving a legacy of kindness, empathy, and compassion.

Being a registered bone marrow donor is truly special and I hope to be a match one day!

I’m eager to share that I’m in the beginning phases of starting my own business! In the meantime, I love networking and connecting with others.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
