Rising Stars: Meet DJ Jaworowicz

Today, we’d like to introduce you to DJ Jaworowicz.

Hi DJ Jaworowicz, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
During the COVID pandemic, I was inspired to start a small business making 10 free indie polishes by my best friend, Sarah. We both liked to buy indie polish, but one day, she simply said to me, “You know, you could probably do this.” I remember thinking that it could be fun at the time.

I’m not sure if it will go anywhere, but what can it hurt? Now I am on my fourth year as an indie polish maker. I have a fan group on Facebook and over 1k followers on Instagram. It’s been quite a journey and a lot of fun!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like anything, it has had its ups and downs.

The hardest thing is anticipating what things people will like. I’ve created polished I thought were absolutely gorgeous that got little response, and ones I felt so-so about that sold out. It’s just a matter of keeping my products diverse and keeping up with what customers respond to.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with your work?
One of my favourite things is making glitter bombs that sometimes fall into the ugly-pretty category. I love glitter, and loading a polish with tons of glitters in various shapes, sizes, and colours is something I really enjoy.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is enjoying what you do and hopefully being able to cover the cost.

While it would be awesome to support myself solely with polish, I’m content to know I can express myself artistically in a way that can be enjoyed by others without costing me more than it makes.
