Rising Stars: Meet D Allen of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to D Allen.

Hi D, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
⭐️ Welcome in, take your shoes off please. If you smell something spicy I have lunch cooking feel free to join me, My parents birthed a young boy who would have a path like no other. That boy grew to be the energy that I am today. My name is DeLorean

Raised in a family with a passion for music, and higher learning I ended up in recording studios at the young age of five. While I sat in the lobby, dancing and eating potato chips I sang along while my uncle Mo Man created his demo tape with his crew. They were living on the front line, and pumping it up… Whatever that meant.

After the studio sessions my uncle would have me rap, and one day he give me a rap name. Freestyling to hard baselines from the analog drum machine I grew an urge and would start carrying a notebook writing rhymes about life and frustrations. 2pac, Mc Breed, Bone Thugs N Harmony was on the radio around this time.

I would soon take on my journey experiencing the ins and outs of the music industry, From open mic performances in the heart of Detroit, to meeting with label executives in LA at Interscope Records, to finding a new love for filming, and being nominated Best Actor of 2023, and Best New Artist in 2025 I say it’s been kinda cool.

Life is full of ups and downs, I say it’s like a crazy sour roller coaster with weird bright lights… I don’t really say that ! I got to where I am today by going within and learning myself, and I’m not done yet! 👽

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles… Growing up was pretty tough living in Detroit, yet there’s no place like home . My most difficult obstacles and challenges came after my daughter ARA was born in Dec 2010. We all know having a child isn’t easy especially when you’re young, and don’t have your life or finances in order. I lost my home and job in 2012 I was a care giver.

Living with family sometimes doesn’t go as planned, and it’s tough when you and your girl break up and live in the same house. I didn’t feel right. I had to make something happen and fast. I was then forced to look for work outside of the states.

I traveled to Atlanta to go stay with family, and soon after I found a job. I reached out to the mother of my child, and just when I thought things would get better I found out I been dumped and she was moving on. 🤣 This would be the worst and best thing to happen to me.

I would be free, though I would have no contact to my daughter for a long time, and visiting for birthdays and holidays just wasn’t enough. This would inspire me to write my book The Art Of Being a Father. I prayed things would get better and it eventually did. You can find The Art of Being a Father in stores on amazon Prime and Barnes and Noble. ⭐️

The other obstacle I encountered was getting Atlanta to adjust to my style, I soon found out I would be the one adjusting. That worked out as well!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I took a risk on buying my own studio equipment years ago. I took a risk on following my dreams, goals, and admirations. I took a risk on quitting my job to start my own business. I took a risk on believing I would always have support in what I do. I took a risk on myself, by staying discipline, keeping my word, taking action and stepping into my magnetism. Risk management is the technique . ✅
