Hi Courtney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
First, let me start by saying thank you for listening to my story. I have always had a more open mind then others which has led me to where I am today. When I was 21 I moved to Key West, Fl and lived there for 8 years. I knew that if I didn’t take that opportunity when I could, I probably wouldn’t. Leaving my hometown was one of the biggest lessons of my life. It taught me how to be self sufficient, to work on myself and dig deep into my goals/ wants. It helped me love myself and appreciate the journey even more. It was empowering and invigorating. Unfortunately, I fell into an abusive relationship my last two years while there – and ended up fleeing back to Michigan to start life over again in Feb 2023. I share this not to be a “victim” but to relate to anyone who has or is currently facing this type of situation, there is hope. I was also 5 months pregnant so not only did I need to recreate my life but I needed it to be safe for my daughter as well. I knew that I wanted to raise her and be home with her once she arrived. This started my online journey. I came across different methods of creating income from home and I was apart of a few mom groups. We share how we’re doing, our struggles and seek advice/help from other moms. It tore my heart apart when I would see a mom post sharing her heartbreak because she had to leave her baby to go back to work, but didn’t want to. This is where my idea came from to create a masterclass. I thought, if I can learn to do this from home and fail forward, I can teach other women to do the same so they have the CHOICE to go back to work or stay home with their baby. This isn’t just for moms either. It is so powerful, that it can truly help anyone create an additional or multiple additional sources of income from home. From there, I’ve made it my mission to help as many people as possible create a life of freedom. That is what I work towards daily. It is my hope that I can help as many women change their own life as possible, and that I give women HOPE who are ready to leave their abusive relationship and start over from scratch. It can feel scary, but it is the best thing I ever could have given to my daughter and I, a new life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t believe there is ever a smooth road. Mine definitely hasn’t been easy. From moving out when I was 17, moving to Florida alone at 21, and then now being a single working mom turning 30, I have had so many “bumps” that could have kept me down. I truly believe how you handle situations displays your character. I have never let my experiences define who I am as a person and I do not bury them. I tackle them head on ( lots of therapy) and I allow myself to “feel” them but I don’t sit in it. It doesn’t become my “story.” It is just something that happened. Life happens for us, not to us.
When I started my journey with self development, the biggest piece of me that needed work was my belief in myself. I truly believe this isn’t taught enough. SO many people live with self doubt. It consumes them. So they sit and scroll and watch others live full lives – without creating a life of freedom of their own. I have done and I continue to do the work daily with unlearning patterns I learned throughout childhood. “Being broke” is also a mindset. There is abundance for everyone but if you continue to tell yourself the same thing daily, you don’t move forward. The road includes changing your mindset and creating an open mind for you to move yourself forward. I often see so many are “comfortable” but so unhappy. They make no progress towards changing their life.
I have had to work through a lot of past trauma and the trauma of an abusive relationship, to know that I deserve love and I deserve any goal that I set for myself. I always share on my social medias, you may see me fail but you will never see me quit. Failing forward is the most important part of your life, and where change happens. I would rather fail forward 1200 times, and be successful and happy versus stay where I am and never step towards things I want for myself.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
When I started my journey, I started sharing because I was on a weight loss journey to lose 40+ lbs that I had gained in my first two years of college. I am actually certified in nutrition and I spent a lot of years in that field. However, I truly believe pivoting when necessary is key and I still love sharing nutrition on my page but my life looks different now. I healed my post partum anxiety with an organic CBD I started on March 9, 2024. From there I started my masterclass, and now I help women daily empower themselves to create additional sources of income from home. I get excited everyday to share this passion and it truly has been the biggest blessing in my life. I am known for how resilient I am and how authentic I am in what I share. My transparency on my pages is something I take pride in. That would be what I am most proud of. My authenticity is what sets me apart from others because I truly believe there is so much power in that. When I show up and share my life – what I’m experiencing – or working on – I show up as myself – and proudly even on the hard days. Being a single mom is hard and I never thought this is what my parenthood journey would look like. However, I am proud of where we are and I work daily to inspire others to take a chance on something new + themselves to move their life forward.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I learned that it is more important now then ever – to have multiple streams of income – from home, online. I say this because COVID was a wake up call for Americans, that if the world shuts down, you can’t work. You can’t work UNLESS you work from home – and have multiple income streams. This time period was a huge stressor for a lot of families financially and I believe it’s something we will never forget. This is why I preach the importance behind my masterclasses because if it was to happen again, you wouldn’t have to worry about “work” or “finances” because your income is passive and your finances are healthy. It never ceases to amaze me how many families live paycheck to paycheck but are so closed minded to opportunities like mine in front of them. You cannot put all of your eggs in one basket, and COVID taught us that.
