Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinne Kunz.
Hi Corinne, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From the time I was small, whenever my mom would do her skincare or her makeup routine I would sit next to her and watch. As I got older, she would go more in depth with me on the products and what they’re used for and how to use them. I always had a passion for skincare but I never thought I would end up in the beauty industry. My whole life was centered around sports and at first my dream was to make it big playing softball. After the COVID-19 pandemic, those dreams shifted and I found myself lost and trying to figure out what direction to go in, and then I decided to go back to school to pursue a career in esthetics. Life doesn’t always work out the way we hoped, but I truly believe God placed me in that beauty school for a reason. I started to flourish, have fun, made some great friends along the way, but more importantly, I met the now owner of V.Estell Spa and my boss: Veronica Harvey. Working in her spa helping clients and having spa parties is so much fun and every time I walk in the door, we all have smiles on our faces. Working at V.Estell Spa truly is a blessing because not only are we helping people and having fun in the process, but we are showing people how to embrace their natural beauty and allowing them to feel beautiful both inside and out, and it’s all for the glory of God. Did I ever think I would be where I am today 4-5 years ago? No, but I am happy where I am and I cannot wait to see how this spa continues to flourish and grow.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t. However, life is never easy. As I’ve stated previously, my whole life was centered around sports. From the time I was 12, my life was already planned out for me and all I had to do was stick to it. Unfortunately, those plans fell through and I didn’t have a backup. I felt lost, confused, I felt like a failure to my family, my coaches, and to myself. I didn’t know who I was without sports and I didn’t know what else to do with my life. But when I went back to school to get my esthetics license, I found myself again and I found a passion and calling that I enjoy doing. I can still help people, I build relationships with my clients, I’m working in a wonderful spa, and I got my spark back. I thank God for allowing me to have this opportunity and allowing me to work in an environment that is uplifting and healthy and has people involved that all want the best for one another. That is a gift that I hold near and dear to my heart.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a licensed esthetician, I focus more on treatments to the skin that you may not always be able to receive from a dermatologist. I specifically specialize in acne treatments. As someone who has very oily/combination skin, I am prone to breakouts but I’ve learned how to combat them and stop them either before they start or right after they start. Acne is one of those things that can happen at any time, but when left untreated, can become a severe issue, especially in athletes. All the sweat, dirt, oil, bacteria, etc. builds up in the skin and when it isn’t handled properly, bigger problems arise and sometimes people don’t know where to turn. I love being able to help my clients achieve clear, glowing skin by doing detoxing facials, chemical peels, and extractions as well as putting them on a treatment plan to continue to help their skin on a consistent basis. Acne can make people feel insecure, but I’m here to help you combat that insecurity and have you show the world how confident you can really be.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
There are so many it’s hard to choose from. My favorite childhood memory would be going to my grandparents’ house and playing bocce in the backyard with my nonno. Being Italian, family is everything and being able to grow up around my grandparents and seeing them constantly was a blessing. My nonno had a bocce court in his backyard, so the whole family would always get together for barbeques and play or would come over for dinner that my nonna made, and sometimes we’d even go to my aunt’s house for Sunday Dinner. My favorite childhood memory isn’t just one specific thing, it’s a collection of all the times my family and I spent together laughing and having fun.
