Rising Stars: Meet Cat Haus

We’d like to introduce you to Cat Haus Collection. Them and thier team share their story with us below:

Cat B. and Kat G. met at a friend’s wedding in 2018 and moved in next door to each other by chance about a year later. After learning about one another’s mutual love of all forms of arts and crafts they decided to join forces! C@ Haus was created with the intention of bringing together queer and ally artists to share their forms of art in one place in hopes to make a greater impact in the art world of southeast Michigan. They are always looking to collaborate with other artists to support other communities because they believe with unity, everyone can win!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Throughout their lives both founders struggled with poverty and mental illnesses and found art to be an escape from their personal struggles. While Cat B. never had a lack of time to create, her mental battles complicated her ability to market and manage advertising her art to the world. Kat G had found herself recovering from a divorce, and she could not keep up with her art supply hoarding. Seeing that Cat needed help promoting herself, Kat made a large donation of art supplies, including an epoxy resin kit. Cat set off on a brand-new series of projects, and Kat found new venues to get them started in the sales market.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Cat B. works with resin, clay, and canvases. Creating jewelry, keychains, and household items, as well as paintings. She focuses on fantasy and horror art as well as body positivity and LGBTQIA+ empowerment. She also uses her art to celebrate and educate people about medical and recreational marijuana.

Kat G. stands by her favorite quote, “Jill of all trades master of none,” and works with a multitude of art forms. She started dabbling with vinyl art when she found herself in possession of a Cricut Machine. She combined her love of paintings and vinyl cuttings to create bold statement hard canvases.

C@ Haus has collaborated with Wishcrafters and Kali Cosmetics to network and unite different art forms. As strong supporters of other Indie Artists, they are always looking to add more to their collection.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
With the love of horror movies, cartoons, and true crime, Cat B finds inspiration in all things kooky and creepy.

As a nature lover and whimsical, fairy-like personality, Kat G uses all manner of green and gaudy delights to carry her to a creative space.
