Rising Stars: Meet Amanda Alphonse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Alphonse.

Hi Amanda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I graduated from cosmetology school while living in North Carolina as a military wife. I was working independently doing hair and loved the flexibility of having my own schedule, especially as a mom. When my husband transitioned out of the Military, we relocated to Michigan to be closer to family. I knew I wanted to remain independent, however, it is a little more difficult when you are new to an area. I decided to make a lateral career move into permanent makeup. Because there was such a high demand, I was able to open a studio and remain independent.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall, I have been fortunate, my business took off quickly and has not stopped growing. However, we did have to navigate through the pandemic and being closed for several months. One of the most difficult struggles has definitely been work-life balance. As a business owner, you have this natural push to be there 100% of the time. The shutdown was a great time for me to reflect and reevaluate how often I am in the studio. I was able to make slight schedule shifts that allowed me to be at home more with my family which has been great for me personally.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I started off in the cosmetology field and transitioned into permanent makeup, it was a bold move but as soon as I finished school, I immediately opened my studio. My first month open I only had one client! I remember being so nervous that it wouldn’t work out, the next month I was fully booked and it has not slowed down since! In 2020 we were voted Michigan’s number one microblading studio! Something that sets me apart is my community involvement. It is so important to use my resources to give back. We donate microblading packages as often as we can and also a “Pay with a smile” program for our Cancer survivors. I also am currently serving as Mrs. Macomb County and will be competing for Mrs. Michigan in March!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck; I truly believe hard work is what got me to where I am today. I had zero economic advantages and I came from nothing and had to fight my way through childhood poverty to “get out” and be where I am today.

Pricing:
