Today we’d like to introduce you to Alli Diemer.
Hi Alli, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My husband bought me my first DSLR camera as a Christmas gift in 2019, but I’ve loved photography far before I was able to get my hands on a real camera. From when I was little, I’d be taking photos with whatever I had available. As soon as I opened that gift a few years ago, I wasted no time taking photos of everyone and everything and learning whatever I could cram into my brain about photography. I’ve always known it was a passion of mine, but what I didn’t know was how important that passion would be for me today. Throughout the past couple of years, my love for this art has blossomed into a side business for me. I do several different types of sessions, but my favorite is couples & engagements. Being able to capture the love between two people is so beautiful and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to do so.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When I first started, COVID had just begun and I was also a struggling college student who had lost both of the jobs I had. Being able to use photography as a creative outlet was enough reason for me to continue, but being able to make money to pay my bills was a blessing I didn’t see coming!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do many different types of sessions: family, seniors & graduates, couples & engagements, and am starting to dip into wedding photography. I specialize in couples and engagements. Being able to capture the dynamic of a relationship is something that fuels my spark. No matter what kind of session it is, I want my clients to see themselves through my eyes: beautiful, loved, and worthy.
I am most proud of my ability to balance working in social work full-time and run my photography business at the same time. It is definitely challenging at times, but I believe God gave me this passion for a reason. My faith is very important to me and is a big factor in how I run my business: from customer service to the actual shoot, to the products I deliver. All credit goes to Him! I would love to eventually work full-time in photography, but for now, social work holds that spot in my life!
What do you think about luck?
COVID could definitely be considered bad luck, but I think when everything shut down in 2020 and quarantine was happening it really gave me an opportunity to hone in on my skills and practice them more than if I had still been working my other two jobs as a college student. While the pandemic has been tragic and devastating on many levels, I am still thankful for the opportunity to learn about photography and practice more than I would have been able to otherwise.
