Rising Stars: Meet Alecia Massad of Metro Detroit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alecia Massad

Hi Alecia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always knew that I wanted to have a career where I was allowed to express my creativity. I graduated with my BFA with a concentration in Graphic Design from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Over the years I have been a freelance designer and social media manager for small businesses throughout the Metro Detroit area. But more recently I have wanted to tap into my love of nature and tie it into a creative business and that’s how the concept of opening Persephone began.

While I still do my design and social media management, I have put more time into growing my mobile bloom bar business with Persephone and am actively working on growing it into another phase with hopefully an actual store front.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every step of the way has come with it’s own set of challenges whether it’s the growth, time management to personal struggles with imposter syndrome. But at the end, every part has been a great learning moment.

My biggest struggle is honestly knowing when I need to pull back and not give too much of my time and resources because I find myself wanting to give more because I love what I’m doing.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently specialize in Mobile Bloom Bars and hosting floral focused creative events.

I believe that it’s my ability to connect with several different types of people, recognize their vibe and meet them with both of out expectations.

I am different from others because I’m not a store front based business and run explicitly by bringing my work to you.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I really need to thank my husband, Dominic. He always supports my crazy and ever evolving dreams when it comes to my career. He has offered me support and guidance on all levels during this entire process from concept to execution. My friends: Kristin, who helped believe in my dream and hire me for one of my first big events. Thank you for your trust and support! And my “Besties” Kate and Maia, who are my “Yes, women”! Meaning they always support my crazy ideas, offer me solid feedback and are the friends I picked to be Family in this lifetime. I hope they always know how much their Friendship means to me.
