Meet Yvonne Mwaniki of Vonnatonics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Mwaniki. 

Hi Yvonne, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Kenya, East Africa and my mom who was a wholistic doctor, always made sure we were eating healthy. Our meals consisted of fresh fruits, legumes, vegetables, herbs, meat and spices. Moving to USA, I noticed a huge difference in how food is consumed and handled. A lot of boxed and shelved options were more accessible and not so much what I was used to. 

I wanted to make an impact in the community, with what knowledge I had. I even got certified as a fitness nutritionist, colon hydrotherapist and herbalist. 

I came up with my own recipes to make tonics. I started with the immune support tonic because I had children and I didn’t want them getting sick from someone in school or anywhere in public. 

My friends and co-workers started inquiring about different health remedies. 

After that ,I was able to come up with enough recipes to have a line of 9 tonics so far. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been an exciting journey but the biggest challenge is when my mom died in 2018, I felt stuck and unmotivated. She was my mentor. She even helped me come up with the recipe to my newest tonic right before she passed away, ALIKI’S SKIN TONIC, which I named after her in her honor. It took me almost 2 years to gather the strength to make that tonic. It was also tough working through the pandemic, trying to figure out a way to get the tonics to my customers with no contact and dealing with delayed shipping. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I make all natural fresh health juice tonics that are made to help with glowing skin, detox, weight loss, weight gain, joint support, energy, sleep, libido, mood enhancement and most importantly, during times like this, immune support. I’m proud of the fact that the juices are made with herbs and spices primarily imported from Kenya and have no chemicals or preservatives. They are not enhanced or flavored to mimmick anything else that’s in the market. I’m also carrying on my mother’s legacy; her passion for natural health. This keeps me connected with her.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I would love to collaborate with entrepreneurs who are geared towards boosting the community’s health; like farmers, nutritionists, trainers or even businesses like bars and restaurants that are willing to try the tonics as healthier mixers for their cocktails or mocktails. Anyone that’s hosting a pop-up, a show or event that will allow me to display and sell my products, as well as share with potential customers how the tonics can help them boost their health. For example, weight loss, immune support and energy. 

They can support me by not only buying my tonics, but also promoting them, sharing my flyers and website information. Word of mouth is really the biggest support.
