Meet Yuri Kenan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yuri Kenan.

Hi Yuri, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, my name is Yuri Kenan. I am 27 years old, a wife, mother, and author. I am a firm believer in writing memoirs because they encourage us in our darkest moments of life.

Ever since I can remember, writing has always made me feel happy. I wrote anything that came to mind; short stories, novels, and then I published my first book back in 2017. My goal is to encourage those through my journey of transparency.

Back in September 2021, I created a journal called Stress Reliever. It’s a workbook that will give you back your peace of mind. It has weekly calendars, self-care questions, suggestions, places to write your feelings, and even ways to express yourself to your therapist. I wanted to create something that would be beneficial to anyone.

Now, since I’ve built a name for myself, I walk in my purpose in helping those write their books and share their testimonies. Everyone has a story to share, and I believe we can change the way people view themselves and heal.

This year, I also started a podcast to share my journey of how it is to be a wife, mother, full-time business owner, and author.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, this journey has its ups and downs. When I quit my job last year, it was a struggle and still is sometimes. One month I might get a client, and another might be a dry season, but God always makes a way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an author, ghostwriter, editor, and journal creator. I’m known for my writing, but I also dabble in photography and graphic design. I’m a jack of all trades. I love writing mystery and suspense short stories and self-help books. I’m proud of my progress because growing up was a struggle, but I made it work. I’m proud of myself for being authentic in sharing my stories of how I overcame my trauma, while also encouraging those around me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I would have to say the role of being the first author in my family has inspired others to write books. It’s truly been a domino effect. I was scared when I published my first book, but I did it anyway. Now I see others doing the same thing, and it makes me smile.

I also am blessed to have such a loving and supportive husband, as well as my family. They’ve always pushed me to keep going when I wanted to give up.
