Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Duhart
Hi Whitney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It’s a bit of a unique story, but I served in the Air Force for six years as a member of Security Forces, which is essentially military law enforcement. After leaving the military and being out for about a year, I found myself unsure of what I wanted to do next. One day, while getting my nails done, I was talking to the nail tech and mentioned that I didn’t want to pursue a career in law enforcement—I just knew I wanted to work for myself. She suggested I try doing lashes and even invited me to work with her.
That conversation got me thinking, so I started researching the field. I learned that in Michigan, I needed to be licensed to do lashes. I found a school I really liked—Aveda in Royal Oak—and graduated on April 2nd. However, I quickly realized that lash artistry wasn’t my niche. I couldn’t even apply a strip lash to someone else! That’s when I started reflecting on myself and thinking about what I could improve on physically.
After having two emergency C-sections, I wasn’t happy with my “new mom bod.” That’s when I discovered non-invasive body contouring. I found a class taught by “Body Sculpting by Mykah,” and it completely changed my outlook. The training gave me the drive and motivation I needed to take control of my career.
I got all the equipment I needed to start my business and was fortunate to find a suite at The Women’s Empowerment Center, which has been a huge support. It’s close to home and perfect for balancing work and family life. My kids are my biggest motivation to keep pushing forward, and I’m determined to make 2025 my year to succeed.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been easy, but I’ve always stayed positive and kept moving forward. My husband and I have been funding my business ourselves, which has been a significant financial commitment. When I first got my suite, I couldn’t even work for the first few weeks because I was recovering from a serious dog attack that injured my foot.
Balancing all the different roles I play can be challenging—I’m a mom, wife, business owner, part-time employee, and I have guardianship of my older sister. At times, it can feel overwhelming, but I genuinely love everything I do. I’m starting to find my balance and prioritize time for all my responsibilities, including myself.
One of the biggest shifts for me has been changing my mindset to fully embrace the role of a business owner. It’s a learning process, but I’m growing every day, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
As you know, we’re big fans of Be Naked Esthetics. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I provide non-invasive body sculpting services, including vacuum BBL, skin tightening, fat reduction, cellulite treatments, face slimming, and more. My goal is to enhance each client’s natural shape and help them feel confident in their own skin. That’s why I named my business Be Naked Esthetics—I want every woman to feel incredible about how they look, even when they’re at their most natural.
What I love most about my work is building confidence in women. Many clients come to me considering surgery, but I’m proud to offer a safer, non-invasive alternative that delivers amazing results without the high cost or recovery time. I specialize in belly-slimming treatments and take pride in helping clients lose inches, look great, and feel even better.
What makes my business unique is my background. As a veteran, a Hispanic woman, and a proud business owner from Pontiac, I bring a unique perspective and passion to what I do. For me, this is more than just a business—it’s about helping women feel empowered and transforming lives.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
When I’m feeling down, I try to lift myself up with the app “pep talk” or by listening to music that inspires me. One of my go-to songs is Kirk Franklin’s Smile. It holds a special place in my heart because it was one of the first songs I heard after spending months without technology or music during my military training.
I also lean on my mom a lot—she’s my go-to for support and advice for just about everything. Her wisdom and encouragement always help me get through tough times.
