Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Ellerbe.
Hi Timothy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been music minded for as long as I can remember. I grew up experimenting with Casio and Yamaha keyboards, writing songs and paying attention to what made popular songs work. I knew I eventually wanted to be a Pro Musician as well as a Producer. At age 27, I got my chance. I was hired by the group Enchantment and I toured with them for nearly thirty years. Along the way, I learned how to conduct myself onstage, how to organize a show and who to speak to after the show was done.
I met many producers and radio personallities and peppered them with questions about the Music Industry. At some point I decided to branch out on my own and start my own band and record label. Nearly a decade later, I am here doing what I love and continuing to build my brand.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been the easiest road to get where I am. There were many disappointments along the way. Iknew where I wanted to be, but not everyone I was working with shared my vision, which was quite a large vision. I was thinking Motown level with many Artists, a songwriting room and so much more. It got to be too much for many who started out with me. I learned that some people are afraid of success, which made no sense to me and caused much frustration.
There were times when I was quite close to landing record deals, licensing agreements and more. But my partners would bail at the last minute and I kept having to go back to the drawing board.
One valuable lesson I learned from all of that was not everyone you meet is meant to walk the path you walk and you just need to be okay with that.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently drowning in music creativity, and that is not a complaint. My band Erogenous is doing quite well on social media and has garnered a lot of radio airplay in the four years we’ve existed. This year we made the Best of 2025 List on WDET which is my favorite achievement so far.
Along with my Frontwoman and amazing Business Partner Diamond Davis, I’ve been able to move into other areas I had never considered before, such as Event Planning. We have partnered with the Matrrix Theatre in Detroit to produce an entire Summer Series of shows that range from plays, to concerts to Meet the Author events. with all of that, 2026 is looking like it’s going to be a great time for us as well.
I also lead several meditations per week on the Insight Timer Meditation platform. My Music for Healing Series has gained me over 6000 followers and continues to grow. I am now looking to move it into the public arena as well, doing Wellness events and perhaps even one of the Summer Series events.
As for what sets me apart from others, I think I am just driven to achieve my goals, but not so singularly. I don’t have tunnel vision adn I am open to allowing what I do evolve and grow. As a result, I love coming to work and never have a boring day.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
There are many apps that I utilize in my daily workflow. There is Insight Timer, of course, where I spend most of my time. In addition to my weekly livestream schedule, I also share new music, premium content and even teaching courses.
I use Facebook and TikTok to promote all of my musical endeavors. The ease of use for sharing reels and other videos helps my brand grow steadily.
Then there are apps like Photoroom, capcut and Canva that are used to edit video and pictures. And Leonardo AI has done wonders towards rendering artwork and logos.
