Today we’d like to introduce you to Tane Goode.
Hi Tane, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started on my birthday April 26th in year 2017. It was the grand starting of my women fitness class also known as FitMiss HipHop. I have a strong background of professional dancing which includes ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, modern, cheer and gymnastics. I started at the age of 2 and continued all the way through college as an extracurricular activity. After returning home from college, I struggled to find dance programs available for young adults over the age of 18. Everything was pretty much age 3 to 17 and at that time I was 21 years old. I gained the opportunity to worked at a well-established company in downtown Detroit at age 22 and it took me away from my passion of dance. After 5 years of no dancing, I decided to take a different approach and create my own dance class for adults instead of looking for one. Throughout my journey of teaching FitMiss HipHop classes it reminded me of what my real passion was, and that is creating a youth dance team. After one year of FitMiss HipHop, I then went on to create an all-girls youth dance team called Royal Rhythm!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but I wouldn’t change a thing that I experienced. Every single bump I hit on the road has taught me something and put me in the position to better my business. Low participation numbers during class sessions, falling behind on studio rent because of the pandemic, spending over thousands of dollars on incorrect costume sizes for my dancer team, website having technical difficulties and causing double booking, the list goes on!
As you know, we’re big fans of FitMiss Dance Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The FitMiss Dance Studio has 3 locations in the Metro Detroit area. Two locations on the West side and one on the East side. They are labeled as Studio B, C, and D. Studio C is our largest studio and our headquarters. Throughout the studios, I teach my FitMiss HipHop classes and conduct classes for my youth dance team Royal Rhythm. The FitMiss Dance Studio is also open to the public to book for events such as birthday parties, bridal showers, baby showers, meetings, trainings, photoshoots, and more. Overall, the FitMiss Dance Studio is known for its FitMiss HipHop classes and affordable event rental space. What sets FitMiss HipHop classes apart from other group fitness classes is, it is designed for any skill level, it’s super fun, the ladies are always encouraged to move at their own pace and they get to learn a new dance cardio routine every week! My favorite part about my FitMiss HipHop class is it has literally changed lives over the 5 years of business. For any ladies struggling with their weight, health, or mental wellness, I highly recommend that you try out this class!
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I first and foremost thank God for His guidance because there were so many times when things could have went so wrong but they end up going so right! Let’s just say there’s been a few times in this business where I had to play some things off and, on the inside, I was saying “Whew, that was close” lol.
