Today we’d like to introduce you to Sterling Perez
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello My name is Sterling Perez! My business has been running since August 2023 and has been doing pretty well!
I got into playing tennis from my brother telling me to try it out after being cut from the Basketball team my Freshman Year! I played it 3 years in high school; Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Year! After being on the team for 3 years I realized I enjoyed it enough to get more involved with making it a part of my life outside the norm. So, I decided to Instructor alongside my tennis coach in the summer and I realized I loved to teach the sport to individuals/groups. After that summer, I went to Elgin Community College and played on their tennis team both years! I wasn’t the best tennis player but I enjoyed my time doing the sport! Fast forward about 2 years from then, i was still instructing now my own clients, I went to pick up a Full time job because I had my Son Sterling Jr on the way in 2015. Being at the school doing maintenance wasn’t the most fullfilling job in terms of meeting people throughout the school, so what was my next move… Yep, you guessed it, I went to involve myself in the Tennis team both the boys and girls season. So much to the fact that i was invited to one of the games that they mentioned to me if I’d like to be apart of the tennis team as an Assistant Coach! I said yes. The next year I became the Head coach of Elgin Academy. Under my coaching, the school went to state all 6 years both the girls and boys season and had 2 1st Place Trophies in 1A Division in the IHSA. Sad enough, The School closed this past Summer of 2024 indefinitely after being Chartered 185 years. None the less, My business I decided to pursue more after this tragedy and we are doing great but could always improve! Twenty 5-Star Reviewed academy.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Its been alot of rocky parts from almost being fired as a coach to being the only sport in Elgin Academy to have a player to win 1st place Championship. My business has had people come and go but most importantly people find me on the web and i have new people always
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Im the CEO of AG Tennis Academy, and we strive to teach all of our clients to the best of my knowledge! Ive been through different levels of tennis skills to see how you should be taught and the best ways to make it to the top skill levels. Im known for coaching tennis. Im consistently working to figure our more ways to have my players/future players seize greatness as a tennis athlete. Im most proud brand wise the background on my business logo, and also selling merchandise to many cleints. Eventually my tennis program will be accessible to people around the world. However, for those people that are local, I want them to know that we teach tennis in a 20 mile radius around Carpentersville and have a place we teach indoor lessons in Schaumburg.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I would hope to be merging to creating gear for tennis teams all over the world as a part to my business in AG Tennis Academy called AG Creations! But in my business i hope to be to the point where we have our own facility of 4-6 courts, and eventually moving that to Milwaukee and other places in the future!
