Meet Stephanie McMillan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie McMillan.  

Hi Stephanie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I am a hairstylist with 25 plus years behind the chair. I come from 3 generations of hairstylists and grew up alongside them while they did hair. I went to beauty school and decided to finish my hours at an Aveda concept salon as an apprentice. I am fortunate now to be doing the same for my husband as he enters the world of hairdressing. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My struggles throughout the way were owning a salon and trying to staff it with employees that had a clientele. Having my own suite takes that pressure off. My other challenge was needing an assistant that could keep up with fast pace days that I work. That’s where my husband, Chauncey Jacob, comes in as he is an amazing assistant. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Holistic Hairdresser inside Vibe Salon Suites. This means I believe that the body, mind, spirit, and the environment are all interconnected and affect our health – and ultimately, our hair. What was you like growing up?
I was an introvert that opened up and became the biggest extrovert after just a few times behind the chair. I felt this sense of happiness. I couldn’t help but express the joy I felt. As a child, I always knew I would choose the path of hairdressing.
