Meet Solfull Poetry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Solfull Poetry.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started off writing poetry in the “3rd Grade”, back in 2007. Poetry started for me on the basis of “Love”, you know how often you like a girl as a kid to watching your parents love one another. In 2015 I got more into posting poems on Instagram and being able to express what low point of my life I was in at that moment. 2019 I started preforming on stage in Detroit, MI. Since my introduction to spoken word poetry, I have had features from multiple established/trademark Detroit open mics and even hosting, curating, and organizing my own poetry shows as well. 2022 I made the decision to travel doing my poetry and hit different states. As of April 8th, 2022 I have performed in Harlem, Brooklyn, South Side Chicago & Loyola University. Still ahead of the year is Huston, TX. To get to where I am and growing from today has been mountain of words, literary therapy, and fine-tuning my spirit to handle wanting to lead a generation of poets.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles I faced along this path fell a lot in the category of “Self”. For starters comparing my success to others, made it difficult to consistently spot my own growth and expand from there. Another factor was “Insecurities”, not putting self-love at the forefront of what inspires me, allows me to write and express the way I do. Lastly, spiritual awakening within my heart and being able to understand that being a leader isn’t always comfortable but is infinitely awarding.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Poet, Graphic Designer, Music Artist & Visual Artist.

Known mostly for poetry and my hosting for poetry events and attending events virtually as well. Poetry is most what I am known for and to be completely honest is my main focus, the power of my words and intent behind my imagery always allows for people to feel my poetry in their soul’s often leading them to have an open heart and mind to what I am speaking about.

What I’m most proud of is the simplest, smallest moments that I have when encountering supporters and replying to messages. One night a married couple direct messaged me and told me that they read my poetry together before bed, that moment changed my life in so many ways, especially considering myself a love poet at the time mainly, that made me realize people depend on my words all the way to loving on someone to my words. I learned to be proud and accepting that.

I feel deep in my soul that my love for human interaction, the passionate study of letting a person pour out their hearts all while listening and recording this through poetry combined with letting all my personal stories act as a vessel for relativity is what sets me apart.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was very much the silly kid, always making jokes out of the corniest punchlines I could think of, I loved hard…still do carefully.

I was HEAVY into Dragon Ball Z, big anime person as a kid. Gaming had a special part in my heart. Lastly though, Neo-Soul music and Smooth Jazz made me always feel and appear older than what I was, my grandfather and mother introduced me to those two things that has big impact of my poetry today.
