Meet Shayne Culp of Niles, Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shayne Culp

Hi Shayne, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve loved photography as long as I can remember. I was setting up little photoshoots with my friends before the age of 10. I’ve always created art via Photography. I’ve chased it as a profession for a little over 10 years now. First part time while my kiddos were babies, and full time once they started school. I have poured everything I have into honing my craft with every spare minute. It has grown into something beautiful. I am still growing all the time, encouraged most by my clients. It’s them and their belief in my journey that I have to thank for my success. Now you can find me encouraging them in return to document their life, and living it to its fullest. My brand is built around empowerment and doing things their way – even if their way is a little non-traditional. I photograph primarily weddings/couples and boudoir. But when people ask, I like to say my niche is “life” I have candid approach to my portraits. The goal is to make my clients or anyone viewing my work feel something.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not. I have started and failed many times over. I went through a divorce when my business first went full time. Making me a single mother of two trying to support my family with my art. I’ve made mistakes and undervalued my work. Entrepreneurship is the hardest thing I’ve ever done next to being a parent. In itself it’s a lot like being one. This journey continues to teach me responsibility, accountability, and discipline.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a photographer! I’m sure you got that by my previous answers. I’ll elaborate a little further here. You can find me photographing love stories. The love between humans or with themselves. I am most known for my weddings and boudoir work. I like to capture the quirky, the weird, the wallflowers. I’ve been told by many clients tell me after their session that it was easier than they expected. I take a casual approach to working with clients, making it a hang out with us and my cameras. I want to get to know them, so I can capture the moment in a way that is special to only them.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I want to document your love story! Self love, love for your partner, bestie, your kiddos, or fur babies too!
