Meet Sarah Greidanus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Greidanus.  

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I heard about FIT4MOM while working on my Kinesiology degree about 9 years ago, and I was intrigued. I knew when I had kids, this would be awesome. They needed an instructor, I connected with the owner and started teaching classes. I was hooked! I fell in love with the community it provided for moms. I found it perfect for me as I was also nannying two young kids. It provided a workout for me, plus outings and socialization for the kids. Fast forward to now, I have been instructing for 9 years and have owned FIT4MOM Grand Rapids for 3. Now with my own daughter, I can’t imagine my life without FIT4MOM and the community it has provided for me in motherhood. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think like many fitness industry businesses COVID changed everything. We had to switch our classes from in-person to virtual overnight. We had to figure out how to provide quality workouts for our moms but more importantly how to provide community during this very isolating time. I was also taking over business at the same time. But the thing I learned during this time is that moms adapt well. Thanks to my amazing team and clients, FIT4MOM Grand Rapids has grown into a closer community through these years and challenges. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
FIT4MOM is unique! We specialize in pre and postnatal fitness classes. That means that we provide classes for all stages of motherhood! We strive to be an expert in our field and provide safe and quality classes for all our moms and moms-to-be. 

But more than just fitness classes, we are a community. We provide playgroups, activities, Moms Night Out, and family events monthly. We know that motherhood can be isolating, so our focus through our classes and events is to foster a place for moms and kids to thrive! 

Who else deserves credit in your story?
FIT4MOM Grand Rapids would not be what it is today without my team! My team of instructors, playgroup captains, and administrators has played a large part in the FIT4MOM GR you see today! They provide not only great classes, but they have seen how FIT4MOM has changed their own lives, and they want to share that! I know much of the success we have is due to them!
