Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Siegel.
Hi Samantha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in Chicago (true blue city gal from Old Town), I’ve always gone back and forth with raising a dog while juggling a full-time job as well as my side gigs – what I like to call my “beer bills” (aka fun money to live like any late 20-year-old). My journey to finding myself and my passion wasn’t an overnight thought and I really have Covid to thank for allowing me to find my passions and ultimately, myself. It started with one dog through the contact of a friend which in turn ended up in receiving referrals left and right – and the Woof Pack was born. Like most people, I fostered over covid (Hi Banksy!!) and had a fabulous Pitbull who luckily found his forever home. I quickly realized that I wanted to open my doors to as many pups as I possibly could and began creating some content for the WoofPack via Instagram. To be extremely candid, I was let go from my job and realized I needed to find a way to support myself and maintain my happiness and decided to grow the pack as quickly as possible through hashtags, dog park visits, and continued posting. Thank you social media! It started with one dog (Hi Brady boy!) and we’re currently growing to over 50 dogs in rotation in the pack.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ooof – absolutely not a smooth road, but a rewarding one. The struggles come like any job – it comes down to trust with new dogs and building and maintaining relationships with clients as it’s mostly a referral-based business so far. My background in sales has been an extreme asset to putting myself out there and holding conversations with new people while allowing my passion for what I do shine through. My goal is to provide the ultimate VIP experience for my clients and make sure they feel comfortable leaving their fur baby knowing they’ll be loved and well taken care of. For me, a lot of the struggle was going through rigorous continued interview processes while trying to build my business from the ground up. Not to mention all the poopers along the way as we take in puppies all the way to senior dogs who need extra care and attention…it definitely can be messy but rewarding. A huge part of this process turned into personal growth which helped me realized just how passionate I am into turning this into the next big thing. My patience was tested like none other as I focused on this being the only way of income – meaning the inconsistencies of everyday life and cancellations couldn’t get to me as it’s just part of the everyday.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At the Woof Pack, we specialize in our VIP (very important pups). We strive to create a fun, home-like experience where we’re always raising the Woof. Part of what sets my brand apart is the experience both client and pups get to enjoy from initial meet and greets to meeting new furry friends along the way. For me, it’s all about creating a shared experience for my woof pack clientele. The ability to connect each other through a love for our dogs is what makes this business so special. Whether it’s an overnight filled with long walks, cuddles, and belly rubs or a check-in for a few hours, I strive to ensure the security of someone loving your pup as much as you would.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
