Meet Ronald & Mackinzie Cooper of New Lothrop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald & Mackinzie Cooper.

Hi Ronald & Mackinzie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Life in Contrast Media was created by a spark of inspiration that ignited into a dream of creating media that could trigger emotion at a deep level.
My husband Ron started filming as a teenager making small independent films and clips with friends. Ron and his friends would make videos of himself and his friends wrestling on a trampoline, which would later become old dusty vhs tapes.
Ron continued to create videos throughout high school where he met me Mackinzie.
I thought he was a strange person when we met, this punky guy with longer hair, band tees and always carrying a hacky-sack. We eventually went to prom together and continued our relationship after graduating high school.
Ron filmed a friends wedding I was asked to be in and things kind of clicked.
After the first wedding, we saw that his gift for working the camera was natural.
I started helping him film more weddings, I would use a secondary camera and Ron would spend weeks editing making every story we captured a cinematic experience.
Than after filming weddings for a while we decided we needed to title our company. We talked it over and came up with Life in Contrast Media, because life shouldn’t be captured without knowing that some moments are strikingly different than others. One moment in particular that stands out is the next chapter of our story.
One day we decided to go to an independent wresting show for fun. We were checking out Pure Pro Wrestling at the Flint Iceland Arena. We had such a good time and noticed no one had been filming the show. Ron had asked after the show if the company was interested in having us film the wrestling shows. Joe Byrd hired us, and filming independent wrestling became a huge part of our life.
After quite a few shows Joe asked if I was interested in being a ringside photographer and I said I would try it out. Wrestling photography was an adrenaline rush, running around ringside I felt right in the action and I could capture the show and people loved reliving it looking at my photographs.
So for years now we have been working the craft and capturing events and moments in peoples lives creating art that will live on forever.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We have been learning as we go, nothing is ever as simple as hitting record or clicking the shutter. The most valuable thing in life is time and this path that we have chosen has eaten away at that. We spend most of every month at our desk editing and traveling to events. Me and Ron have learned to work through the time crunches by multitasking and making the most of the free time we have.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We consider ourselves a professional Media production company.
We film, photograph, edit and produce professional quality media.
Things we have produced include, wedding films and Photographs ,Family portrait sessions, Pro Wrestling videos and Photographs, Senior Portrait sessions, Commercials, corporate event videos and corporate photos. Head shots and so much more.
Our sweet spot is wrestling media production. We love the people and the art of pro wrestling. We have worked with so many talented and kind people that make what we do feel like home.

What’s next?
We are always investing in ourselves and our equipment. We want the media we put out in the world to be the best quality and have the emotional entertainment value. We put our time and our hearts into out work.
Big ideas for the future include streaming more live events, and working on some creative side projects.
